Gen Z is the least religious generation we've ever polled. Today, about 36% of them say that they believe in God without a doubt. When Gen X was asked that same question when they were they same age as Gen Z now, 57% were certain of God's existence.

Bit of a surprise here: The Padres have named David Morgan as their starter tonight, explicitly calling him their opener.

I just heard the news that two of our faculty @fullerseminary, Chris Hays and Ryan Bolger, lost their homes to the Eaton fires that raged through the area. Please keep them in your prayers, that God would sustain, shield and be the "Rebuilder of Broken Walls" for their families.

It's not the pastor's job directly to lead a church that changes culture but to create culture-changing people.

The theology of the cross produces the sort of eschatology that advocates planting a tree (Luther)—neither escaping nature nor conquering nature, but leading the chorus of nature in groaning for the consummation. The Christian hope is therefore neither resignation to “the way things are,” since God is always on the move, nor mastery, since neither nature nor history is ours to control. The definitive power for the Christian community is neither Apollo (resignation to defeat) nor Dionysus ("the will to power") but the Lamb who was slain for others but now is alive for others.

In order that the Church may truly be sign, foretaste and instrument of God’s purpose to consummate all things in Christ, it must in each place be credible as such a sign, foretaste and instrument in relation to the secular realities of that place.

Wrote a bit on “finding your Identity” in union with Christ in college for By Faith. Might be helpful for senior or college student you know.
College is a time when you’re figuring out who you are in new ways. It is junior high all over again. The question “Who am I?” cuts to the core of how you think about your place in the world and your value in it. ow.ly/Qs4750SV1G1

Likeness to Christ is not measured by external things but by the extent to which a person’s character bears fruit that resembles the fruit of the Spirit. Not by numbers but by kindness. Not by fame but by humility and self-control.
