NOW: I’m rallying with colleagues + families to call for the closure of Haze Land, an illegal cannabis shop in our community. This year we passed legislation in the budget to bring local enforcement to NYC and ensure people are not skipping communities impacted by the drug war.

There’s nothing more important than keeping our neighbors safe. This is for all the loved ones, including in my district, that we have lost to reckless driving. This is for Sammy.
Thank you to everyone who helped get it to this point. Let's make our streets safer.
.@GovKathyHochul seems to confirm Sammy’s Law made it into the budget and she’s looking forward to signing it and hugging Sammy Cohen Eckstein’s family. It will allow the city @NYC_DOT to lower the speed limit. h/t @bern_hogan

As a mom and a legislator, I have fought for street safety. I never thought that I’d be a victim of traffic violence. But I was. And I was lucky to walk away with just a broken arm.

NEW: Last week I visited @DominicoAmerica to present them with a check for $30,000 for their Adult Literacy & Job Training programs. DASQ has been serving our neighbors for decades including our new arrivals. Amid the asylum seeker emergency, these are services we must invest in.

This is the face of a man who climbed the ladder of affirmative action to his present perch of power only to help destroy the very ladder on which he ascended. This is not only the mark of deep ingratitude & disavowal of history, but a withering betrayal of justice & democracy.

Today, we stand at a pivotal moment as we respond to a recent U.S. Supreme Court decision that reverses decades of precedent on affirmative action. Together, we will continue to drive forward, never losing sight of our mission and the transformative power of education.
