It's so obvious that this a globally important scientific research facility that MUST be kept EASILY accessible to British & World botanists from EXISTING public transport networks. Surely relocating Kew Herbarium uses carbon budget humankind does not have!

🎃 Please don’t dump your #Halloween 🎃in the countryside if hedgehogs 🦔 eat them they are very likely to die as they can’t digest them & it leads to dehydration ☹️

#GardenersWorld is meant to be for the people, so why are they showcasing the use of incredibly expensive wildflower turf that is resource intensive & often involves plastic to bind together. Seed mixes are so much better. I think it’s time I became a consultant for the BBC.

How lovely for you Hannah😌 Several sparrows and the bonny robin were already tucking in as I went down to make first breakfast🙂 #firstbirdofmyday
4 minutes just after 7am made a big difference. I carefully put out a woodlouse rescued from the kitchen sink: dark, zero birds. Then ... light in the clouds, tens & tens of jackdaws arriving post-overnight roost dispersal! 😄
#JackdawsAutumnFirstBirdReport
All those 'Top Gun' near contact aerial manoeuvres the jackdaws have practised in 2025-26 came in handy with three of them persisting for several minutes in driving off a buzzard in the sunshine from 3.05pm yesterday!
#3rdBOMD walked after me returning from putting out the recycling ♻️. A young, timid wood pigeon that took up a camouflaged position on grey standing against pinkish bricks of the house. ❤️ FBsOMD were 2 rattle & chatter magpies on side of a house roof.

My one disappointment with Norway, a distinct lack of birds. Managed to meet the local sparrows today though, which was nice😌

These are no ordinary birds, these are Swifts, taking a close interest in the nestboxes on my house this morning, and literally 'knocking on the door'!

If you want to help the birds in your garden, just add water - especially in a heatwave!
Here are two Great Spotted Woodpeckers, juvenile and adult female, drinking and bathing in my Suffolk garden, summer 2026.

How anyone could see this and think to destroy it’s beauty with a 500 chalet holiday camp & parking for a 1000 space car park
A tropical swimming pool shops and restaurants…

#NetworkRail have ignored dedicated swifties for 10 months but they can still help the birds by unblocking their homes. Tell the CEO this: [email protected] Anger as swifts’ nesting holes in Derbyshire rail viaduct ‘blocked up’ theguardian.com/environment/…

I love seeing them using their tiny little feet to create the nest pocket. They need to make sure the walls stay stretchy as the nest could contain up to 12 chicks all growing up in there!

Hmm, haven’t seen mine yet this year🤔 Single female sparrow #FirstBirdOfMyDay with another half dozen arriving as the tea brewed🙂
Thought I'd post a pic of 2 v. fine, hard-working public service equines, on duty nr final game of the present round of Premier League, especially in appreciation of @JasperManUtd's dialogues on here. By the time I'd sorted flash was OFF, it was "Tails"! 😊

ALT Two police horses from Merseyside Constabulary on duty on Regent Road, Liverpool 5, adjacent to the wall of Bramley Moore Dock on Monday 23 February 2026 at 19:11hrs. The horses and the police officer riders are wearing high-visibility yellow & reflective apparel and a single light each flashing alternatively blue - red - blue - red, etc., etc.

“If you value Britain’s countryside, vote for it” …. I did and look where we are now 😡
Do you think Steve Reed believed in any of that last year?
NO! …. Instead, the Govt is pushing its Planning and Infrastructure Bill enabling the further destruction of nature/wildlife 😡
