For more than a century, they lay beneath the ground where they had fallen. Their families mourned; generations passed; the landscape acquired new purposes. Yet the obligation to find them endured. Last week, five British soldiers were buried in France, two restored to their names, three still awaiting identification.

Turkish manufacturer Aselsan says its Korkut gun-based air defence system can destroy Shahed-type attack drones for less than $10,000 per engagement. With Ukraine among its operators, the system reflects growing demand for cheaper weapons capable of countering mass drone attacks without exhausting missile inventories.

Elon Musk has accused Ukraine of using commercial Starlink for unauthorised drone strikes, but Kyiv disputes the allegation.
The controversy follows restrictions on the separate military Starshield system that disrupted Ukrainian drone operations, raising questions about American control over critical battlefield communications.

Ukraine Strikes Russian Missile Production as Patriot Shortages Expose Air Defence Vulnerabilities defencematters.eu/ukraine-ru…
Ukrainian attacks on Russian defence factories, military airfields and infrastructure in occupied Crimea are putting pressure on Moscow’s military capabilities.
At the same time, shortages of Patriot interceptors and the growing threat from jet-powered drones are forcing Kyiv to reconsider how it defends its airspace.

What if UK Defence Investment Plan money allocated to Ajax was used to purchase surplus US Army M10 Booker platforms? We know it works. Its 105 mm gun would be a useful tool while we wait for Challenger 3 to deliver. And it would provide a pathway to the XM30 to replace Warrior (assuming GDKS’s Wolf is selected).
Copenhagen has confirmed plans to acquire ground-launched Anthem cruise missiles and air-launched Joint Strike Missiles for its F-35 fleet, giving Danish forces new options for striking targets beyond the battlefield as NATO strengthens its long-range deterrence capabilities.

Italian security forces are preparing for another wave of protests, with additional military personnel, drones and specialist police units deployed in several major cities. The immediate question is whether the government can prevent further disorder while establishing how much of the unrest was locally organised and whether foreign information operations influenced its development.

🇫🇷🇬🇧☢️ The French Minister of the Armed Forces has just announced that British Eurofighter combat aircraft took part in a French nuclear exercise for the first time.
This is a revolution for the Strategic Air Forces (FAS), which have always operated in complete autonomy since their creation in the 1960s. It is worth noting, however, that two FAS Rafale B aircraft had already conducted a joint exercise with two German Eurofighters this summer.
This exercise puts the Northwood Declaration, signed in July 2025, into concrete effect — a declaration that specifically opened the way to operational cooperation in the field of nuclear deterrence.
The released photos show at least one British Eurofighter equipped only with short-range ASRAAM air-to-air missiles and fuel tanks.
The scope of the exercise remains unknown. It may have been exercise BELOTE 2026-04, which was scheduled for this Tuesday at night (with a reserve slot on Wednesday). BELOTE is a kind of "mini-POKER" and is likely used for the qualification of new crews so that they can then take part in the POKER operation. If this is indeed the case, it paves the way for British crews to take part in the next POKER. However, no activity was visible on @ADSBex during these two days, which is very unusual.
Edit: It seems that the name of the exercise was "RUMMY", which is also a card game, like BELOTE and POKER.

The Guards Memorial on Horse Guards Road has marked its centenary, with soldiers from the Household Division marching past it exactly as 15,000 veterans did at its unveiling in 1926.
Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal took the salute and rededicated the memorial, which has also been newly restored, with its weathered badges and lettering recut ahead of the centenary.
The oldest guest at this year's rededication was 100-year-old Irish Guards veteran John Barber, echoing 100-year-old General Sir George Higginson, the oldest veteran present in 1926.
