Hydrogen never makes sense for trains.
Battery-electric beats hydrogen-electric handily on non-electrified routes, even in wintertime.
Even on the Transsiberian route it's better to use diesel + CCS than with hydrogen.

Former US Ambassador Chas Freeman didn’t mince his words when describing the Israeli army: “The world’s most sadistic army, the most murderous army on earth.”
In this conversation with my friend Thomas Karat, he discusses the reality of Israel after October 7 and the broader implications of its crimes.
Well worth watching. Don’t miss this one.

The French could not isolate themselves from payback from betrayed European allies the way that Americans can do. Moreover, the French aren't potential enemies of Western European countries the way the U.S. is.

It's not difficult to fly high.
You need to deal with the temperature/ (careful about icing and batteries), increase wing area (span) and the engine has to have enough output at high altitude (turbojet can do easily).
The high altitude adaptation any appear any time.

I doubt that this changes the range issue much if at all.
The time of flight with SAL cannot be the issue.

1980's optronics for air target identification by fighter pilots were fixed forward as well. That's not so much of a problem. You need to get close, that's what costs time especially if the cheap cruise missiles don't fly close to each other.

Was literally explaining the, "society falls when old men don't plant trees they will never sit under" to my neighbor (boomer)
He said he didn't get it and why would he plant trees if won't be around to see them
A bit of a rant grown into a blog post:
"We need a different way of war"
defense-and-freedom.blogspot…
The offence-defence spiral goes on. In the end, one needs to understand that you take blows in war and you better be able to tolerate those.
The American Way of War has been for 40 years to pretend 'overwhelming force' and 'airspace domination' et cetera can give immunity.

Bigger guns get more expensive without getting effective out to 45k ft, which is a feasible cruise altitude for such drones in the very near future.

I suspect 76 mm heavy AAA may be an answer, though they would be at risk of getting hit by artillery or cheap drones far forward and might lack effective ceiling against high-flying cheap cruise missiles.

So there's the case for Shaheed saturation attacks being able to overwhelm an APKWS fighter force up to a short penetration distance. That won't apply for deep penetrations.
Still, there's a case for different defence against cheap cruise missiles for coastal and front areas.

APKWS uses semi-active laser homing and has short range. The fighter needs to get close, then illuminate the target with the laser. An AIM-9X can lock on from much longer distance and is fire&forget.
