As definitive proof that predictive policing technologies *disproportionately* target Black, Brown, and poor neighborhoods gets published, now is a great time to remember: Shotspotter Connect is predictive policing. It has all the problems PredPol has.
A decade ago, a group of UCLA professors developed software that used data to predict where crime would happen, promising police could thwart it. PredPol, as they called it, was supposed to be race neutral. We and @Gizmodo found its predictions are not. themarkup.org/prediction-bia…

Thank you, @THEWOONAACP! No ARPA $ should be spent on WPD body cams. “We need to…make certain this money is directed for the most affected communities; Black, Brown, and low-income White people…we cannot support the redirection of ARPA funds away from those who are suffering”

City Manager Augustus plans to use $200K of ARPA $ to pay for WPD body cams. Our stance is any $ for body cams should come from WPD’s existing budget. WPD broke the public trust, so it should have to pay for the tools it says will make them more accountable to the public

Why is @EOPSS holding only 4 meetings over 2 days for public comment on body cameras? Why are the meetings scheduled for the middle of the work day? Any why is there so little information about how to attend these meetings?
