🔬 Methodology for the 2026 season
Based on the experience gained from previous seasons, and taking into account the circumstances created by the new regulations, the methodology has been revised for 2026.
For this season, in addition to using each driver’s clean-air laps, the sample may also include laps completed in traffic when appropriate, provided their lap times remain broadly in line with what they would have been in clean air. This is done to obtain a more representative final figure. A track evolution factor has also been introduced, improving the comparison between laps completed at different stages of the race.
Every lap completed by each driver is analysed individually to remove those that are not representative, including traffic, unusual laps, off-track moments, pit stops, unlapping laps, etc. This also applies to laps completed in clean air that are deemed unrepresentative for any other reason.
Once this filtering process is complete, the sample is analysed team by team to find the fairest possible comparison, matching the number of laps, degradation, timing within the race and tyre compounds wherever possible. When this cannot be achieved, the best possible approach is used to extract a representative figure rather than simply declaring the comparison void.
Laps marked with a grid are estimated links, calculated from the average of the representative laps at either end of that driver’s sample. They are used to equalise the comparison and minimise the removal of representative laps solely for compensation purposes.
⚖️ Weighting of each Grand Prix in the final comparison
For the 2026 season, not every race will contribute equally to the final comparison of team-mate pace. Instead, the weighting of each Grand Prix will depend on the size and quality of the available sample.
This means that races with larger and more reliable samples will have a greater impact on the overall season result.

📊 How do we measure H2H Qualifying Trend Pace?
🔍 Rather than relying solely on official qualifying times, we analyse each session to identify the underlying pace trends between team-mates. We compare their performances across sessions, assess their best sector times and give greater weight to decisive laps.
‼️ We exclude situations where external factors prevent a driver from setting a representative lap, such as giving their team-mate a tow after receiving a grid penalty.
⚖️ This approach aims to provide a more accurate assessment of each driver's potential qualifying pace and how the gap between team-mates evolves throughout the season.
⏱️ UPDATE 2026 H2H QUALI PACE #F1

🩷 Gasly -0,263% vs Colapinto
🟣 Verstappen -0,260% vs Hadjar
⚪ Pérez -0,258% vs Bottas
🔵 Sainz -0,254% vs Albon
⚪ Bearman -0,217% vs Ocon

🟠 Norris -0,077% vs Piastri

The announcement regarding Norris's track limit came 30 minutes after the post was published.
👉 The H2H has been reversed in Piastri's favor
⚔️ H2H (Head to Head) is a direct comparison between two teammates to determine which of them performs better under specific conditions.
🔍 To carry out this comparison, we aim to carefully analyse those factors external to the driving that may have altered the final outcome of the comparison; for example: a driver was performing better until they suffered a mechanical failure / an accident caused by another driver’s mistake / a poor strategic decision by the team. As such, this comparison will not be the same as that shown by the official statistics.
‼️ We would like to point out that the H2H measures who won the duel and not necessarily who was the fastest; for that, we carry out separate pace analyses. In other words, one rider may have been much slower than another throughout the race but still won the duel thanks to a mistake made by their teammate
✖️ If there is insufficient information to determine a H2H, it will be marked as null with a grey X. In very specific cases where there may be sufficient data but the situation is not clearly in favour of one side, it will be marked as a draw with a yellow X.
