"Once upon a time, this stuff actually seemed to work for Trump. He built a whole lurid Technicolor artificial world for his supporters to live in. He lied and lied, and from time to time he won.
But it’s over. He’s done, the jig is up. Nobody believes."

Mitch McConnell has just delivered a warning Trump cannot afford to ignore.
In The Wall Street Journal, the veteran Republican senator warned that Trump’s continued submission to Putin could jeopardise his entire legislative agenda.
McConnell calls Trump’s Russia policy strategically naive and morally bankrupt. More importantly, he signals that Republican senators may withhold their support unless Trump changes course.
This is no longer merely about Ukraine. It is about whether Republicans will allow an American president to keep rewarding a Russian dictator while undermining America’s allies.
For once, Trump may discover that Congress has a spine.
EL-SAYED: I get that the President takes personal offense to my first name. He doesn't mind as much when it's the Saudis who are funding his son-in-law's private equity. Doesn't seem to mind as much when it's the Qataris who are giving them a $400 million private jet. He just seems to have trouble pronouncing it when it's my name.
I don't care how he pronounces my name. I don't even care that he remembers my whole name. Because he can just go on and call me senator after November.

You absolutely must watch Zelensky’s interview with Stephen Bartlett. On camera, we see a man who is deeply weary—at times on the verge of collapse—someone who has spent nearly five years living under the constant, direct pressure of war. From the very first minutes, his exhaustion is palpable. When asked the standard question, "How are you?", he replies that he sleeps very little, spending his nights on the phone with military commanders, trying to shift the few remaining air-defense assets from one region to another.
He shares two particularly poignant stories. The first concerns a missile that struck a playground in a matter of seconds; parents watched, through their windows, as their own children were torn apart before their eyes.
The second involves presenting posthumous honors to the families of fallen soldiers: "You hand a medal to a father—you feel the strength in his hand—and he asks, in a hushed voice, 'May we have a hug?' In that moment, I simply cease to exist. Those people are gone, and the survivors will never be the same again."
When the host tries to take him back in time—showing him old photographs from Kryvyi Rih, images from his university years in the KVN comedy troupe, his voice work for *Paddington*, or scenes from the series *Servant of the People*—Zelensky looks on with indifference, as if these things belonged to someone else’s life.
He also recalls February 2022, devoid of any heroic rhetoric. He describes how, for the first twenty days, he was driven purely by adrenaline—rushing from office to office, making endless phone calls, and scrambling to organize supplies of food and water for Kyiv. The full weight of his fear, and the stark realization of what had truly transpired, only hit him three weeks later, when mass graves containing the bodies of hundreds of residents were discovered in Bucha. It is precisely through the example of Bucha that he explains why he is so deeply irritated by those who advise him to reach a quick agreement with everyone: "Imagine if a mass grave were discovered in the United States or Great Britain containing 500 people who had been tortured, their hands bound. How could one simply forgive all that?"
The rest of the conversation centers on the stalemate in which the Ukrainians—and everyone else—find themselves. Zelensky explains the reasons for the war in simple terms: Moscow is attempting to forcibly rebuild the Soviet empire, a project that would be definitively shattered by Ukraine’s move toward Europe. Yet, when he speaks about the present, his words reveal a profound sense of frustration.
Nearly a fifth of the territory is occupied, the east of the country is under heavy bombardment, cities are left without electricity, and people are dying every single day. Meanwhile, any discussion of a ceasefire would require Kyiv to withdraw from its fortified positions—with no guarantee that the offensive wouldn't simply resume within a year.
Finally, the conversation turns to the subject of Trump and the attacks on oil facilities. Trump has publicly criticized Zelensky for striking Russian refineries, fearing that such actions could lead to a sharp rise in diesel prices for American farmers ahead of the elections.
It is here that it becomes clear just how much this attitude hurts Zelensky: his country is in flames, Moscow has rejected his proposal for a mutual halt to attacks on energy infrastructure, and the Americans are sending Patriot missiles—paid for by Europe—to the Middle East—yet he is the one being blamed for fuel prices in the United States.
The entire conversation leaves a rather bleak impression. A man trapped between the daily deaths in his own country and the pragmatic negotiations of allies—who have their own elections and political calculations to consider—can no longer distance himself from it all.
Look at it.

The Trump presidency is an unmitigated, authoritarian shitshow — a descent into American fascism that directly echoes the terrifying collapse of democracy in 1930s Europe. Driven by a deranged madman's non-stop serial lying and his all-out war on truth, it is a relentless, calculated assault on the Constitution and the rule of law.
While the regime is actively executing the fascist playbook to a tee, the real horror will take place when Trump loses the midterm elections and orders Attorney General Todd Blanche to subvert the will of the people.

Today, another Russian smear campaign is trying to pretend that Ukraine, or Zelenskyy personally, rejected a good "peace deal" in Istanbul in 2022.
The "peace plan" in question included strict limitations on the Ukrainian armed forces, rendering them harmless and defenseless. No alliances were allowed. It also included security guarantees, but with a funny kicker: Russia demanded that triggering these security guarantees required the unanimous agreement of all guarantor states, including Russia itself.
In other words, Ukraine was supposed to disarm almost completely, after which Russia could attack again and just block Ukraine from receiving any military aid. Comfy, right?
The "peace deal" proposed in Istanbul was, in fact, a "disarm and let Russia slaughter us" deal. The full details are public by now. Research it yourself and don't fall for the propaganda.

And we always celebrate our shared achievements – everything that strengthens our societies and gives people more opportunities. We are ready to continue expanding our cooperation, and may all the good hopes of the people of Serbia come true!

THIS IS HUGE: Dana Bash just pressed Todd Blanche on whether Trump is laying the groundwork to overturn the election, and the attorney general lost his cool
Dana Bash asked the question a lot of Americans have been waiting for someone to ask, and Attorney General Todd Blanche came apart on live television.
On CNN's State of the Union on Sunday, Bash pressed Blanche on the Justice Department's lawsuit to block certification of the Alaska Senate race if the Republican doesn't win, according to Mediaite. It's a lawsuit Trump himself said was filed at his behest.
Bash pointed to Trump's Truth Social post claiming Democrats are trying to steal the seat. She told Blanche the president was admitting it's political, and she asked him straight out whether he sees his job as helping Republicans keep the seat.
Blanche didn't have an answer. He snapped back that Trump wasn't admitting anything and that the president is supposed to make sure everything in the country is running right.
So Bash widened the lens.
She reminded him that just a couple of days earlier, Blanche himself had used the phrase doomsday scenario. Then she asked the question out loud: are Trump and the Justice Department laying the groundwork for a scenario in which Trump tries to overturn the election, with a result that could look like what the country saw after January 6th?
Blanche exploded. Oh, stop it, he told her. You are not being a real person. Come on man, that is crazy.
Bash didn't flinch. It is not crazy, she said.
Blanche insisted the department was only worried about fraud in Alaska. Bash answered him calmly: I wish it wasn't a real question.
She kept going anyway. If you're laying the groundwork for the president to try to overturn an election he doesn't like, she said, there is concern.
That's the job. A powerful official didn't want to hear it, and she asked it again until he had to respond.
Dana Bash did what the best journalists do. She asked the question the attorney general didn't want to answer, and she didn't back down when he got angry.
That is what real journalism looks like.

India said NO to Starlink.
Musk thought he could throw a public tantrum and bully India into handing him a telecom monopoly, but he completely miscalculated.
Thanks to Trump’s reckless betrayal of global allies and cozying up to dictators, the world is waking up to a terrifying truth: you simply cannot trust America—or its arrogant billionaires—with your national security anymore.
Fareed Zakaria:
“Elon Musk picked the wrong moment to lecture Indians.
Frustrated that Starlink had not been cleared to launch in that country, he accused the government of protecting Mukesh Ambani whose telecom network Jio will launch its own satellite service.
Musk cast himself as the champion of ordinary Indians against one of the country's richest men. It backfired. India's government dismissed his accusation as baseless.
An influential nationalist group close to the ruling party went further demanding that Starlink be kept out of India altogether citing national security. Media and online reactions were similarly hostile to Starlink.
Musk did not understand that in India as in much of the world, trust in America is collapsing. Indians have watched as Donald Trump has discarded 25 years of bipartisan outreach to New Delhi in favor of cozying up to Pakistan and its de facto dictator Field Marshal Asim Munir.
They have watched Trump essentially abandon Ukraine, where the military version of Starlink has been suspiciously restricted, thus crippling Ukraine's military response to Russian aggression.
Would India define itself in another crisis with Pakistan? Would it want its armed forces to be utterly dependent on a US satellite system controlled by Trump?”
