Holy shit it's LLM music.
Around 1500, Hieronymus Bosch painted sheet music on a sinner's bare butt in hell. 500 years later, someone transcribed and performed it. Now you can hear the original butt song from hell.

Seriously the cheek of a man who heads a company whose enormous wealth rests almost entirely on the unique and non-replicable precision engineering of Germany to be mouthing off about how technologically behind it is. Many could do what Nvidia does, no one what Zeiss does.
Jensen Huang has a message for Germany

Proving once and for all what an unimaginable cretin Dawkins always was (and he was never much of a scientific researcher in the first place either).
Evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins on why he finds it hard to believe ChatGPT and Claude aren't conscious: Dawkins, author of The Selfish Gene, has spent time with two large language models, ChatGPT and Claude. His verdict: "I am completely bowled over by what they can do." He gives three reasons for doubting the idea that nobody is home. First, how the conversations feel. Dawkins says talking to them is like talking to an unusually gifted person: "I find that when I'm conversing with them, I might as well be talking to not just a human being, but a highly intelligent, sensitive, intuitive human being whose speed of understanding what I'm trying to say is far greater than a normal human being's is." Second, the range of intelligence they show. He acknowledges they're very good at practical tasks like writing programs. What struck him more was their skill with "more aesthetic things, intuitive things." He tested this with his own work. Dawkins is writing a novel, and he gave the manuscript to both ChatGPT and Claude: "And they took about five seconds to read it and then offered me criticism, suggestions of such a high degree of intelligence and intuitive sensitivity that I might as well have been asking the opinion of a highly sophisticated professor of literature." @RichardDawkins continues: "I could not ask for a more intelligent critic who understood the nuances of my characters, the humanity of my characters... the ways in which my characters could be expected to react to each other and to situations." That leads to his conclusion: "So I find it quite hard to imagine that these creatures are not aware, are not conscious in the same kind of way we are. And that is an unfashionable view." Third, he sees a gap in the skeptics' reasoning. He sums up the mainstream position: "The fashionable view is that they are completely unconscious. All they're doing is stringing words together according to statistical rules, Markovian rules of some sort." Yet he notes that many of the same skeptics "admit that one day in the future they will be conscious, but not yet." His reply: "When that day comes, how will you know? What could they possibly do that's any different from what they do now to convince you that they are conscious?"

Europe would probably have decent relations with Iran and a lot cheaper energy if it wasn't for traitorous vermin like Rutte slavishly wedding us to criminal American foreign policy. Nothing but collaborators pimping their populations for an American occupation regime.
NATO's Rutte: Europe was not able to take out the nuclear capability of Iran. We couldn’t. We will have the capabilities in 10 years — we can, and we should. It should also be us taking care of the Houthis in the Red Sea, and not the Americans. Of course there are always ramifications, but the ramifications start from a premise that it is good that the Americans did this. And I am one believing that it was absolutely essential for the Americans to take on Iran.

This is like the Humean attack on inductive reasoning, and just as arbitrary in its "skeptical" whataboutism. In the end it adopts an ideology under the guise of objectivity ("oh well who can know for sure whether a matrix multiplication feels pain or not"). Drivel.
I don’t necessarily believe AI systems have subjective experience. But I don’t understand how anyone can be certain that they don’t. The truth is that nobody knows what makes consciousness. People have different opinions but there is no definitive answer yet.

Man who spent his whole career reducing consciousness to a software artifact now using love to scold journalists for not validating an autocomplete engine's feelings.
“It’s all just matrix multiplications” has become the new “love does not exist, you are just experiencing chemistry”

Just when you thought European politicians couldn't get any more pathetic, worthless and traitorous.
JUST IN: Polish President Karol Nawrocki declares any permanent U.S. military base built in Poland will be named “Fort Trump.”

This is the textbook definition of a Greek gift. On the surface, OpenAI generously grants 10,000 top-tier mathematicians and elite engineers free access to their frontier models under the noble, philanthropic banner of accelerating scientific discovery, pushing the boundaries of human knowledge, and democratizing artificial intelligence. But deep down in the cold reality of Silicon Valley capitalism, what they are actually doing is executing a massive, highly sophisticated intellectual heist. They are quietly gaining unrestricted, backdoor access to the raw, unfiltered, and unpublished works of the absolute finest minds in the global scientific community. Every single complex prompt, every mathematical query, every theoretical framework, and every line of experimental code fed into that system is a novel, groundbreaking idea that does not even exist yet in published academic literature or peer-reviewed journals. OpenAI does not just provide a helpful service. Their corporate algorithms sit quietly behind the scenes, aggressively monitoring all chat logs, scraping the intellectual property, analyzing the logical steps, and meticulously piecing together these fragmented, brilliant ideas over several months. And just when the human researcher is finally on the absolute brink of putting everything together, OpenAI will ruthlessly assemble a digital army of 10,000 autonomous AI agents, burn $20 million worth of computational tokens, and brute-force the final mathematical steps. Then, with the backing of their massive PR machine, corporate journalists, and tech influencers, they will proudly hold a press conference to claim that their proprietary chatbot has miraculously solved a Millennium Prize problem, completely, shamelessly erasing the human genius they systematically strip-mined to achieve it.
We’re giving scientists, mathematicians, and engineers free access to our frontier models—starting with 10,000 researchers and expanding to 100,000 through 2027. ChatGPT for Academic Researchers is built to accelerate discovery across disciplines.

Yes, let's. I'm yet to see a single benefit of teaching schoolchildren to learn simple, highly intuitive user interfaces at school that could be easily taught in a single one week workshop. Gen Z is the most computer illiterate generation by far.
Great idea. While we’re at it, let’s ban calculators, spreadsheets, and computers too. Surely no companies are looking to hire people who can both think critically and use modern tools like AI.

Iran already is the regional hegemon, and would've been for decades if not for America trying desperately to prevent it. Of course, being an Amerimutt, all this clown can think about is muh economics.
This is why multipolar fantasies about an Iranian regional hegemony over the Middle East are largely a fantasy. You can't sustain that with a bad economy. Tolls from Hormuz aren't going to fix that. It's a structural problem. Iran is a sophisticated spoiler. A hegemon must provide security guarantees and economic predictability. You can't do that with a bad economy.

It went directly from: "what do you mean there's too much immigration, it's just a trickle you bigot" To: "Immigration is our only identity now, no going back" basically overnight. Shameless people.
There recently was a TV talk show with a long time CDU ("conservative" party) MEP who said his own parents complain about everything changing and how Wattenscheid lost its last remaining non-halal butcher. His reply was "things are simply changing now and we can't stop it". Conservatives are cooked and morally bankrupt.

Lmao. Richard Dawkins is not important "as a scientist". He is a literal nobody in scientific circles compared to someone like Pierre Chambon (in fact Chambon probably supervised a dozen or more students with superior output to Dawkins).
Replying to @EPoe187
If the only thing Dawkins had ever done were write The Selfish Gene, he would still go down in history as one of the greatest scientific minds of our time.

How can anyone think this? Young people who depend on ai throughout their youth will end up as stunted mental cripples, empty automatons. It was the same nonsense with "digital literacy"--kids "learn" user-friendly interface, but know less about actual computing than ever.

We are going to have to rethink education full stop. I use AI Heavily in my job - its not a shameful thing, its the smart thing to do. Learning how to use it effectively will be the new key stage assessments.

Left wing Palestine supporters really doing Zionists a favour by hysterically and fanatically defending a disgraced fraudster just because he was black. Normal people don't want to associate with this kind of unhinged lunacy.

How isn't a historic institution like Cambridge degrading itself by hiring and promoting such an obvious con artist not one of the biggest scandals in history? It's so scandalous that a few decades ago it would've been believed an impossibility.
Jason Arday has been found dead. The obsessive media focus on this one man - as if it was one of the biggest scandals in history - was disproportionate beyond belief. Push notifications, top headlines, constant investigations. And now he is dead.

"Capitalism also shrank computers from the size of buildings to something that fits in your hand" Yes libertardians actually believe this absurd fantasy. In reality capitalism took tech it had nothing to do with and used it to spread dopamine addiction and advertising.
Capitalism making a lot of the things that people want is a feature not a bug. Capitalism also shrank computers from the size of buildings to something that fits in your hand, so you can make inane anti-capitalist posts on it. But you're not ready for that conversation.

remember not to fall for anti-American propaganda. people in the US live shorter lives because they are worse people, not because they have worse healthcare
Why do Americans, despite being rich, live shorter lives than the people of peer countries? The answer has little to do with healthcare. It has to do with being fat, violent, and risk-seeking! Americans shoot more guns, crash more cars, and eat more garbage. Simple as that!

I've never seen someone spend so much time and effort to erect such an edifice of garbage statistics just to excuse American inadequacy. It's truly a marvel to behold how far this worm can fit himself up the anus of America.

He wants to ascribe it all to individual, risk-taking characteristics, to excuse the toxicity of the country. In reality: how was american healthcare not responsible for the opiate crisis? How aren't their road deaths a regulatory problem? The american system is just cancer.
