Given the sad situation with @britishlibrary, we hope that the 500+ images that we've got online will be of use to those looking for 10th and 11th century manuscripts and charters: digipal.eu/digipal/page/?pag… #medievaltwitter

Vita Brian because it includes a miracle scene which revolves around Latin palaeography (and conjugating Latin) – at Barnet, London

It’s my last day as Lyell Fellow in Latin Palaeography (with a dash of Hebrew!). I’m grateful to have had this opportunity & will majorly miss teaching ⁦@bodleianlibs⁩! Wishing my successor, Dr Laure Miolo, much success. & me? I’m delighted to say I’ll continue to be GLAM😎

Susan Rankin ends her Lyell lectures with one of the most dramatic “reveals” that I’ve ever seen — she tells us that her scribe R who added the musical notation to ⁦@bodleianlibs⁩ 775 is also the scribe of the Great Domesday Book!!! ⁦@richove⁩ leads the applause!

That's terrifying. Having celebrated how international the online seminars have been, we decided that, for the very first in-person one, I should keep up the tradition by joining from Dublin.

A "wow!” moment at #OTST22 when Georgi Parpulov tells us that he has identified a series of fragments which belong to the same codex — which just happens to be the oldest extant copy of the Gospels in Arabic (dated 873)! (Here are two of his slides that I’ve pieced together.)

The legions of @DrDavidRundle fans can now nab a ticket to hear "The Library of Humfrey, Duke of Gloucester: The State of our Ignorance” at The Book at the Bod conference (Monday 25th April — online and in person): modelsofauthority.ac.uk/blog… #BookBod22
The best definition of The History of the Book is by @respektor: “This is how I feel right now Obsolete manuscript No one reads and no one needs Pages lost, incomplete No one knows what it means.”

I’m delighted to announce registration is open for “The Book at the Bod”! If History of the Book is your bag; medieval manucripts your jam; or palaeography (with a dash of Digital Humanities) where you think it’s at, then you’re very welcome to register! medieval.bodleian.ox.ac.uk/c…

WANT!! “Nor does the reader now want 80,000 words on the shape of the letter ‘g’ (a subject I rather recommend, incidentally).” (Christopher de Hamel *A History of Illuminated Manuscripts*, 2nd edition, 1994, p. 11; images from @modelsauthority: modelsofauthority.ac.uk/digi…)
