we made it on @gerrygcarter s paper list, not bad 🤩
“Greater spear-nosed bats commute long distances alone, rest together, but forage apart” - by @teague_o and @DinaDechmann sciencedirect.com/science/ar…
our study of „group foraging“ in spear-nosed bats did not produce the results we expected @dechmannlab @MPI_animalbehav
"Results suggest that social proximity appears to be more important during resting & that factors other than increased feeding efficiency may structure social relationships of group members while foraging"...

hey all, I am mainly tweeting science related stuff if at all, so it‘s quiet here. Follow me at @dechmannlab though for bats and shrews and everything we do (painting of a tagged noctule by the amazing @AlonaPrylutska for attention, follow her! )

Animal Trackers need a wireless network to get data back from tagged animals but cellphones and satellites are 🤑 and heavy. Here we demonstrate the @SigFox #IoT network as a new option not only to retrieve GPS data but also geolocate even smaller tags

Our plenary speaker was @DinaDechmann. She told us about her quest to find drivers of female bat migration & understanding migratory interesting flight patterns. Bonus fun was seeing how IoT might aid in that endeavor and that bat conferences are apparently the best conferences!
