Actually, not gonna be nice about this. You can shit on your own work if it floats your boat but the only way to get good at a thing is to do it & kicking people for practicing is shitty. Also no, I'm not on the opposite end of the curve. I'm an award-nominated author. Bite me 🙂

You, me, and everyone responding to this drama are on one side of a bell curve. LM Montgomery is on the opposite side of that curve. Our violations of grammar rules and writing convention are not comparable.

I am advising people as kindly as possible to step away from giving unsolicited advice to fic writers who are criticized for literally every single thing lately

Just realised as well. Because there's a possession charge - You go on the sex offender's register for watching someone get choked now. Which will both ruin lives AND make actual sex criminals have an easier time since it means being on the register COULD be serious crime or could be 'watched washing machine stepbro porn' one time, thus diluting it.

my biggest hot take is that we need way less special editions and way more mass market paperbacks
Rachael 📚@markruffaloTDOct 2
I miss when you maybe only got a special edition of a book if it was out for 10+ years. Now it’s sprayed edges straight off the bat or bonus content and covers that are different depending on where you bought the book. The consumerism with publishing these days is tiring

Also need I remind you all that this person led the cruel, racist and baseless charge against Ashley Reese, claiming that she killed her husband AND That people defend her because she is pretty and has a nice heteronormative body. Fuck this person one million times.

Raise your hands if you support that google should bring back the non-AI version of Google. Like no AI summary, no AI overview, no AI to read the internet, like we want Google to show the actual results.

You people are so EXHAUSTING Stephen King hates The Shining! Alan Moore hates V for Vendetta! The Queen in the book of The Princess Diaries is a surly, crabby bitch who drinks and smokes constantly! Adaptations are great! Free yourself from the shackles of slavishness

Then they should make their own art instead of pretending they are adapting another person's story. Adaptation requires responsibility.

Eye-wateringly stupid defence from Rowling - ‘She does not support legal actions aimed at harming transgender people.’ -So that £70,000 towards the bathroom ban was by accident? The JKR Women’s Fund was made by an impersonator? At least have the spine to admit you want us dead

BAD THINGS HAPPENED HERE is officially a published book! I have been dreaming of this moment since I was a nerdy 12 year old losing (and finding!) herself in books. It’s like a teeny, tiny miracle. Dreams do come true!

Please do not paste your manuscripts into “AI detection tools” - these are often (always?) LLMs themselves, so you’re feeding them for free !!!
Natalie is ✨redrafting HollowWIP✨@NatalieO73314Aug 14
I’m very concerned to hear some literary agencies are now using ‘tools’ to detect AI-generated writing. These so-called detection programs aren’t accurate! If you can’t tell just by reading a submission, surely you should be trying to educate yourself?! We’re so screwed. 😭😭

sometimes a book is 5 star because its a masterpiece. sometimes its a 5 star because it made my brain release serotonin. and sometimes its a 5 star because it made me cry my eyes out. all of them are equally valid.
