St Demetrius Basilica, Thessaloniki 🇬🇷
The city celebrates its patron saint, and the anniversary of its liberation. A great feast of the Greek Orthodox Church
Let us pray for the Christians of the East and throughout the world, who need our support more than ever.

The Brewers are being celebrated like they invented baseball.
They are doing things that have become unusual.
They have an old school tough manager who players love playing for.
They focus on basic easy to understand basic fundamentals.
They have a hitting coach that was an overachieving player for skill that played in the big leagues.
They hit the ball the other way.
They value putting the ball in play.
They adjust their approach based on situation and count.
They are not addicted to exit velocity and launch angle bullshit.
They bunt and steal bases.
They do not have selfish superstars that need to be treated like celebrities.
The Brewers simply play the game how it was meant to be played.

What is Oxi Day? The story of Greece's "No" to Mussolini on 28 October 1940, the war that followed, and how Greeks in Greece and Australia mark it.

History Lesson:
If #Canada builds a second TransMountain pipeline, the oil majors will be all over the Canadian oil assets!
Canadian #oil stocks will go through the roof with a second pipeline, simply because oil majors will buy them out to control the flow to the international markets.
We have argued in a couple of reports that the entry of the oil majors to shale plays doesn't make any financial sense unless it is about control.
What we see here is a repeat of history: The Seven Sisters trying to control US independents. In the past, it has been done through the Texas Railroad Commission and the federal government. Now through direct acquisition

If you’re turning on Lamar Jackson, and the Ravens already, come on…
I get the frustration with the Ravens being a historically bad second half team, but let’s not turn on Lamar. Hopefully 8 is back out there on Sunday against the Bills.

Today, Pat Murphy pulled up the text he sent Freddy Peralta on Jan. 22 after Peralta was traded to the Mets -- and in it, he thanks Peralta, references how he was honored to see every pitch in Peralta's big-league career to that point, and how much he cares about him.

In the heart of Thessaloniki stands the sacred Church of Saint Demetrius, our city’s beloved patron saint. ☦️🇬🇷
For centuries, his name has been a symbol of faith, courage, and protection.
October 26, we honour him and the city he has watched over for generations.

If, by the way, the same situation that just happened in Brazil had happened but with the parties switched -- if Bolsonaro had won last night's election and then a pro-Bolsonaro judge sent the Federal Police to seize Lula's passport and bar him from leaving the country -- every major western media outlet and liberal NGOs would be screaming about the authoritarian attack on Brazil's elections and the destruction of basic freedoms.

114 years ago, Macedonia was liberated from the Turkish yoke and reunited under rightful Hellenic rule.
Thessaloníki was liberated from nearly 500 years of Ottoman rule on 26/10, during the First Balkan War.
Greek forces, victoriously led by Crown Prince Constantine, accepted the unconditional surrender of the Ottoman garrison, allowing the army to enter the city peacefully.
This marked the city's incorporation into the Kingdom of Greece, formalized later by the Treaty of Bucharest in 1913.

One day after Lula was declared the winner of Brazil's elections, his opponent -- Sen. Flavio Bolsonaro -- just had had his passport seized by the Federal Police.
Theose police were sent by notorious tyrant Judge Alexandre de Moraes. What a lovely democratic image.

I mean Cenk is dumb and a bigot. Everyone knows this. But this ad is dumb and bigoted at scale. It’s innumerate and morally obtuse and if anything remotely like it was aimed at Muslims he and his ilk would (defensibly) be outraged. But this shit is fine when aimed at the you know who.
New @RebellionPac ad dropping in Michigan. We have to suffer here at home, so Israel can get all its wars. That’s why they buy politicians like Mike Rogers. He promised to serve Israel “unconditionally,” but never made that promise to you.
