Let’s get it on the record now.
If there’s a sixty game lockout in ‘27 but your favorite team wins the World Series… will the World Series count?
We say yes! Of course!
If you say no, please leave the name of your team in the comments.

If Vin Scully provided the voice for the first half-century of MLB in Southern California, Ross provided the words. Farewell to a friend, mentor and legend.
If there was a Mount Rushmore of ball writers, Ross Newhan would be on it. He was a giant in the biz, a Hall-of-Famer who spent much of his 43-year career covering @MLB for the LA Times. He was a mentor to myself and so many others, a friend to all. Ross died today at 89. RIP💔
💙
We send our deepest condolences to the family, friends and readers of longtime distinguished @latimes baseball writer Ross Newhan, who passed away at 89.
Ross was a true gentleman, a highly respected voice in his 43-year career, and a baseball Dad to former Major Leaguer David Newhan. He will be missed.
Because can you ever get enough good baseball writing!

Very kind!!!! Thx!

I think @JimFox19 is one of the most underrated LAK players nowadays.
People that did not see him play have no idea.
And imo LAK need retire #19 on behalf of two great players: Mr. Fox and Mr. Goring.

Clayton Kershaw pitched 18 seasons, all for the Dodgers, and walked away after 2025 with 3,052 strikeouts, 223 wins and a 2.53 ERA. He debuted in 2008 as a 20 year old.
The franchise that had Sandy Koufax, Don Drysdale, Don Sutton and Fernando Valenzuela now has its career strikeout record held by a kid from Dallas who never pitched anywhere else.

It's the 38th anniversary of Kirk Gibson's famous home run in Game 1 of the 1988 World Series — what was it like in the #Dodgers dugout that night?

What Hershiser did in the second half of 1988 is one of the great sustained runs any pitcher has put together in a single season.
He closed the regular year with 59 consecutive scoreless innings, breaking a record Don Drysdale had set twenty years earlier, and then he won the Championship Series MVP and the World Series MVP in the same October. Doing all three inside one autumn is absurd.
The Dodgers were heavy underdogs against Oakland and he shut that lineup down, which is the part I keep coming back to.
The scoreless streak was a regular season feat. Beating that team was the harder job. Top five over a whole career is a stretch given the sample.
For one October, nobody has been better.
Was Hershiser's 1988 October the best ever?

Jay Johnstone connects on his pinch-hit home run — Game 4 of the 1981 World Series, Dodger Stadium, October 24, 1981.
New York led 6-3 in the sixth when Tommy Lasorda sent up Johnstone — a .205 hitter that season, still looking for his first hit of the postseason — and he drove a two-run homer off Ron Davis to bring the Dodgers to life. Reggie Jackson lost a fly ball in the sun, Bill Russell tied the game, and Los Angeles scored twice in the seventh to win 8-7 and even the Series. Johnstone, baseball's most famous prankster, had won a ring with these Yankees in 1978. This time he beat them — and the Dodgers took the title in six.
⚾ Johnstone — better prankster or pinch-hitter? 👇️

In what should have been the most exciting two weeks in Brewers franchise history, they fumbled the "Timeless Ticket" promo.
In doing so, they failed their most loyal fans at the worst possible time.
Dodger Fan Weekly retweeted
wait
you mean to tell me there's approximately 443 fans who did this?
even if you doubled it you're less than a thousand tickets into honoring your truly loyal fan base
the darling Brewers aren't so darling it appears
🚨Very low effort offer and apology from @Brewers. They couldn’t even bother to address us by our names. “Dear Timeless Ticket Holder”. 🤦♂️
From the @Brewers general ticketing email account and not Rick’s personal email. His name is on the bottom sign off tho.
It is a step in the right direction , but we are not pleased and still have questions/concerns. They need to open up an actual dialogue with us‼️
Finally another development that makes this worse. Rumor is that they never got to the full 1000 tickets sold. They only sold about 450 tickets before they discontinued it. A person in my group was 443 and bought in January 2019 shortly before they discontinued the sale of the ticket. So it’s even more embarrassing that they can’t accommodate even fewer of us than originally believed.

On this day in #Dodgers history:
October 21, 2021
Facing elimination in Game 5 of the NLCS, Chris Taylor delivered a performance for the ages!
3 HRs
4 hits
6 RBIs
The Dodgers crushed the Braves 11–2, with Taylor becoming the first player in MLB history to hit 3 HRs in a postseason elimination game.
What a night for CT3!

People are giving the Brewers credit for fixing the ticket situation, but this solution actually sucks.
The people who bought those tickets bought them for this exact moment. Who knows if the Brewers get here again anytime soon? Giving them a shitty seat and then forcing them to wait who knows how long to use their Timeless Ticket the way it was originally intended isn’t doing the right thing.
Corporate greed has permeated everywhere.
