The number of "sanctuaries" appealing for carved pumpkins in insane. I hope there is some snap inspection work going on. These people are going to be the centre of an ASF outbreak.
It’s nearly #Halloween! #Pumpkins can only be fed to livestock, including #Pigs, if they have NEVER entered a kitchen and the carving utensils have never been in contact with products of animal origin. This helps to prevent diseases like #Africanswinefever gov.uk/guidance/african-swin…

Utterly despicable. God help you if you're a farmer who falls under a urban forces area.
🚨 A sheep farmer has been left facing losses of about £23,000 after 53 lambs were killed and another 14 seriously injured in a dog attack in Wigan. Steven Blacklidge said he was 'horrified' after being told police would not authorise further enquiries, citing insufficient evidence and budget pressures, despite new livestock worrying laws coming into force earlier this year. Greater Manchester Police has since confirmed an investigation is underway and said it is taking the incident 'incredibly seriously'. Read the full story: ow.ly/SONj5101pol

One of the most bizarre comments I've ever read from an alleged 'nature-friendly account. "It does no one any good and just encourages hedgehog lovers to hate and be afraid of badgers." Guess what, nature actually depends on everything eating something. If that causes someone to 'hate' it, they should leave conservation and nature topics the f*ck alone and go back to reading Wind in the Willows. Also, hedgehogs aren't people - just because they eat one, doesn't mean they'll eat the other. 🙄JFC

This is the way the world ends. Take heed.
If you’re visiting anywhere that keeps farm animals this half term, please don’t feed them your left-over food waste. It’s illegal and can spread deadly diseases like #AfricanSwineFever and #FootAndMouthDisease. Please use the bins provided. gov.uk/government/collection…

I am not the biggest fan of CO2 stunning. But consider it insane that this is having public money spent on it because of Waitrose man and woman groups like CIWF. Instead of non-stun slaughter. Although if we ban CO2 stunning here we would ban all such imports... right?
🚨 BREAKING: The Government has launched a consultation on ending the use of CO₂ to slaughter pigs. More information to follow.

Gov direction (and the mouthpieces they implore) is getting quite frankly ridiculous for farmers Do we want “tidy farms” to pass Red tractor tests, or do we want unkempt farms to do its thing for nature and habitats? What other sector has to work with such moving goalposts?

Lot of battery farmed beef in this country. Takes some serious convincing to get an 800kg bullock into a dog crate. But if you don't think I can do it, you've never seen me work.
It's really not a controversial opinion: animals need space, not cages. 🐔🐰🐷

Why are all the bald firearms experts so angry?

What did I say.... Ironic from a man who uses abuse out of the gate and is so clearly very angry. Perhaps a scalp massage would help?

This is where there are none. Anywhere. On any farm. At all. All dead.
Go for a walk on almost any farm in Britain and ask yourself where a hedgehog might find food, water or shelter there. The rough edges, pockets of scrub, areas of unkempt long grass, piles of dead wood, marshy wet areas and ponds, all tidied away. There’s nowhere left for them.

My first thought was. Who?
🗣️ "You cannot run national food security on a digital lottery..." @LibDems MP @timfarron has delivered a passionate speech in the House of Commons, taking aim at both the Conservatives and Labour over their handling of British farming support. He criticised the Conservatives over the phase-out of the BPS and the design of SFI, while accusing Labour of failing to address the problems, culminating in the latest funding window closing in under six hours. ❌ The LibDems are now calling for guaranteed funding for eligible farmers who missed out on SFI, alongside an additional £1 billion a year for environmental land management schemes. Images from RAF Fairford incident. One shows an officer muzzling a (presumably and ostensibly) loaded rifle with his hand. The other shows an officer pointed a loaded rifle eithe directly at a colleague or at least not in a safe direction. Police firearms safety is a joke.

Says one of the organisations responsible for closures. Pick a lane.
🚨 Britain's abattoirs are disappearing. If animals are farmed for food, they should be raised & slaughtered close to where they're born. But as local facilities close, animals can face longer journeys before slaughter. We've signed an open letter 🔗 bit.ly/4ytyoGO

Image from a cage system thats been banned in this country for years. Standard misinformation.
🐔 Behind every egg is a hen. Millions of hens across the UK spend their lives in cages, unable to properly dustbathe, forage or explore. They deserve better. ✍️ Tell the UK Government to release the consultation on cages: bit.ly/3UrJYUn #EndTheCageAge

I love the notion that these pressure groups know better how to run a farm than the people doing it or their many many expert advisors.....
To compete with cheap imported milk, UK dairy farmers think that they have to get big and intensify or go bust, resulting in animal cruelty, overuse of antibiotics and pollution from excessive nitrates from animal waste. There is another way if consumers would use the power of their purse to buy from a decentralised system of farming – local shop and more if the demand was there. #farmsnotfactories #banfactoryfarming wildlifetrusts.org/news/rise…

Combines getting more efficient is terrible. Made food cheaper. Reduced the carbon foot print of wheat. And we've stopped using things like DDT. But you know. Ben is after the good old days. When men were men and women couldnt vote.
Speak to any hard-bitten older farmer around me in Somerset, or anywhere in Britain, and they will tell you that they grew up among fields teeming with corncrakes, grass snakes, hares, hedges full of yellowhammers and other songbirds, car windscreens splattered with bugs after the shortest summer drive, nearly all now gone. 98% of wildflowers, gone. Huge shoals of herring, cod, and other fish in the sea, a distant memory. Across almost every indicator, the losses during just one human lifetime have been catastrophic. The data is all there, as are the anecdotes. Britain is among the most nature-depleted countries on earth.

Because Better Chicken Comittment chickens. Don't die. Because something something magic.
🐔 @wagamama_uk says it cares deeply about “continuous improvement”. So why is it breaking its promise to improve chicken welfare? After seven years of promises, it's still serving #Frankenchickens. #GoForSlow 🐔👇 bit.ly/3UZFAwq
