Replying to @niabgroup
@niabgroup plots at @Groundswellaguk looking fabulous in the sunshine. Crop competition, managed inputs, alternative break crops and herbal leys all represented. Crimson clover is bringing the colour!
A low effort approach as a means to look at soil structure - great job!
Nice to be back doing some @niabgroup field talks at @AgriSouthUK. Got to try forklift soil profile investigation and some blue dye infiltration pathway demos. Where does an inch of “rain” go?

Cover crops doing their job at the @niabgroup NFS Rotations Trial at @Morleyfarms. Radish at growth stage 0.75 dog in plots receiving a full N dose in last season’s winter wheat, scavenging residual soil nitrogen. Just the 0.20 dog in plots receiving below optimal N last year
Good to see the support of long-term studies to help us develop our understanding of farming systems and the impact on productivity.

📹You couldn't visit the soil pit @CerealsEvent this year, so we're bringing it to you!
NIAB's Lydia Smith and Patrick McKenna take you beneath the top soil for a worm's eye view of the soil structure @EWDaviesFarms in Essex. See the videos at: ow.ly/FTlp50Bs9hA

Thunderstorms are coming to #norfolk soon???
EAST: Quite an active cluster of thunderstorms over north Essex and into Hertfordshire, drifting west-northwestwards towards #Cambridge, #Luton and possibly #Bedford later. Tricky driving conditions on M11 between A11 and #Stansted, and A1(M) between #Stevenage and #Letchworth

Temperatures in the UK exceeded 35°C today for the 5th time this year (31st Jul, 7th Aug, 10th Aug, 11th Aug, 12th Aug).
This ties with 1976, which is the only other year on record with this many ≥35°C days 🥵

🚛 Bit late for #Farm24, but over the last couple of days our lorry driver Steven has clocked up 1151km, collecting and delivering combines from/to Cheshire, Kent, Suffolk and Norfolk. Important work supporting our trials teams 👏👏👏
