Along with the grieving family of Romanch Mahajan, we are appalled to see @JoannAriola32 rescind her support for Romanch’s Law, which would both protect horses and workers and prevent another carriage crash tragedy that took 18 year-old Romanch’s life in June as he desperately tried to save his mother’s life as she was thrown from a rampaging horse carriage. CM Ariola knows Romanch’s death was the eight violent horse catastrophe in Central Park within a year, and she knows more violent incidents will occur that endanger lives. She also knows horses regularly collapse and die while pulling carriages and that many are elderly and unwell. We hope CM Ariola will come to her senses and vote yes tomorrow. There is a robust worker and owner transition plan that the administration has committed to. Maintaining the status quo is not an option, Council Member. New Yorkers - 70% of whom support banning deadly horse carriages - will not forget your moral cowardice, and neither will we. @gmahajan88
