‼️ I AM STILL SHOCKED THAT THERE ARE PEOPLE IN UKRAINE, EVEN IN KYIV, WHO ARE STILL WAITING FOR THE “RUSSIAN WORLD” AND ARE WILLING TO WORK FOR THE ENEMY. AND THAT WE ARE STILL DEALING WITH SUCH PEOPLE INSTEAD OF HOLDING THEM FULLY ACCOUNTABLE UNDER THE LAW ‼️ Seriously. Eleven years into Russia’s war against Ukraine and almost five years into the full-scale invasion. While Russia kills our people every day, tortures prisoners of war, abducts civilians and children, destroys cities, and tries to leave Ukrainians without electricity and heating, there are still people among us who are willing to help the aggressor. And the most frightening thing is that these are not always people openly waving Russian flags. They may be people living next door, enjoying the freedoms of Ukrainian society while simultaneously helping spread Russian narratives, organize provocations, or destabilize the country from within. Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) regularly exposes intelligence networks, informants, saboteurs, and individuals suspected of collaborating with Russian intelligence services. And every time, the same question arises: how many more remain undetected? Now, screenshots of alleged conversations about organizing paid pro-Russian unrest in Kyiv are circulating on social media. If their authenticity is confirmed, this is no longer simply a matter of political opinions or freedom of speech. It becomes a question of potentially organized activities benefiting an aggressor state. However, these materials must be verified. Screenshots alone do not prove that a conspiracy existed or establish the involvement of specific individuals. Freedom of speech is not the same as the right to help an enemy organize violence or sabotage. I want every proven case of deliberate collaboration with Russian intelligence services to receive a proper legal assessment, and those found guilty to face severe punishment proportionate to the gravity of their crimes. Because while Ukrainian soldiers are dying defending our country and civilians are enduring Russian attacks, we cannot allow Russia to exploit the openness of our society against us. This is how hybrid warfare operates: the enemy attempts to exploit democratic freedoms, social divisions, and internal distrust to weaken a state from within. But a democracy’s response must not be mass accusations or persecution for political beliefs. It must be effective counterintelligence, independent investigations, evidence, and the certainty of legal accountability. Democracy must be capable of defending itself.
