Enjoyed the food at Istanbul kitchen, bringing back memories of two wonderful weeks in Istanbul in July.
A little extravagance: @CedricGrolet’s Goutea @TheBerkeley
I do enjoy eating alone from time to time. Does anyone else find that when they do it some restaurants treat you as an inconvenience and offer you the worst table even when there are better spaces available? – at Nottingham, England
First tried @ibericotapas in 2009 when I moved to Nottingham. Always impressed by the quality of ingredients, service and the changing menu which keeps me coming back. – at West Bridgford, England
So there’s been a big price hike on @original_annies take away breakfast but, to be fair, they’ve kept the price low for a long time and it’s still a very enjoyable guilty breakfast treat.
Finally able to try Cleaver and Wake @IslandQuarter. Splendid Sunday lunch with an excellent beetroot-cured salmon and all elements nailed successfully in the roast. Looking forward to trying the evening menu.
I hugely admire Vegans, I don’t have their discipline and selflessness and love so many vegan dishes. But, as a non-vegan why am I subjected to the bland dreariness of vegan mayo in so many restaurants? Can we at least have a choice? – at South East, England
Lovely lunch of mushroom soup and rarebit. Can’t resist an extra side of @delilahfinefood polenta chips.
That lobster mayo with the Sichuan hot oil is an irresistible addition to the crispy, succulent chicken at Mollis, Nottingham. @alchemillaresto
A satisfying authenticity to the Cotto pizza from Pizzamisu, took me back to my trips to Naples and Sorrento.
Breakfast @LarwoodVocePK (without baked beans). Not been for a long time, but as good as I remember. Black pudding had a lovely crispy exterior.
Still away in Istanbul and have a new food love: soguk or cold baklava. It’s, soft, creamy & delicious. As always the best place to try it - and traditional baklava - is Karaköy Güllüoglu.
First away trip to Istanbul since 2020, can’t beat a Turkish Breakfast! Amusing indulgence was trying Nusr-et - his take on Sushi was surprisingly tasty. Great to visit some old favourites & discover new ones.
Creative balance of flavours and textures from @ArtichokeChef, outstanding service as well. A memorable evening. Look forward to my next visit.
If you’re in central London, I can’t recommend Bubala Soho highly enough. Service was exceptional and the food vibrant and delicious
