#Cities enable the collaboration that makes humanity shine more brightly. Because humans learn so much from other humans, we learn more when there are more people around us - Edward Glaeser

#Cars function best as exclusionary devices, as mobile private space. Even driven as slowly as possible, they still don't allow for the directness of encounter and fluidity of contact that #walking does - Rebecca Solnit

The entire block is being demolished, but the Alternative Thinking Bookstore is still open! (Bathurst south of Bloor)

Yesterday was called @SeniorsDay by some, @OlderPeoplesDay by others. We don't care what you call us - we're too busy: working/studying/volunteering mentoring/protesting cycling/hiking/dancing/jogging caregiving playing in bands enjoying life!
An arrow directs #pedestrians to a blocked passageway! I've tweeted several times about the frustrating signage, notified the construction company, got no response. But CBC (Safer Streets) was interested and interviewed me today about lack of consideration for #pedestrian safety

Proud to walk in the Labour Day parade today in support of @jen_keesmaat for mayor!

#pedestrians aren't a priority at the @DanielsConstr site on Pembroke. One sign points to a passage which is often blocked/full of equipment. Another directs us across the street, but there's no crossing. The signs saying "Danger due to Construction" should add "and bad signage"
Summer celebration at John Gibson House. This wonderful residence, located in #trinitybellwoods park, provides a caring, safe, family environment for some of the most vulnerable Torontonians.
"Above all, do not lose your desire to walk. Every day I walk myself into a state of well-being and walk away from every illness. I have walked myself into my best thoughts, and I know of no thought so burdensome that one cannot walk away from it." - Soren Kierkegaard #walking

For a couple of years I had a plot at the Garrison #communitygarden - and it's nice to see that it's still thriving. It was always a peaceful spot, with friendly people who gave helpful advice, and I had never before eaten so many fresh leafy green vegetables!
Pretty much every time I walk my dog on Stanley Terrace, this car is blocking most the sidewalk. #parkingdirty
