$70k/yr is considered low-income. $20/hr is only $41,600/yr if you work full-time and never take time off. $20/hr only sounds high because we’ve been told over and over it’s too high by the same businesses making record profits.

Today we published #TheGap24. There are fewer than 4 affordable and available rental homes for every 10 extremely low-income renters. *This* is the root cause of homelessness and the urgent rental crisis that must be solved. Read: nlihc.org/gap

There is absolutely no reason that “spring forward” shouldn’t happen on a Monday at 4pm.

The NYT will print just about anything these days including an article (not an op-ed) about how San Francisco's "culture" is worsening the city's addiction crisis. There is so much misinformation in this article and just blatant inaccuracies, it makes me want to scream. But instead, I am writing a detailed thread on its inaccuracies. NYT DO BETTER. 🧵1/
The NYT’s will just print anything these days. 😡 Yes I will write a thread as soon as I am done teaching…about the misinformation presented in the latest NYT article (some of which is blatantly false) about what is causing the overdose spikes in San Francisco. So annoyed.

Same issues faced in NC. An in-person requirement will greatly impact ability to provide care for people in rural areas esp w transportation issues (often why ppl do bupe telemed and not an OTP) or long waitlist. @KateandOlive_ @Elainaaaaaaa

Been thinking a lot about how @drcarlhart said to rename “harm reduction”. I think a lot of folks felt some frustration because in the US, it was originally Black and brown led. From the Panthers to Young Lords to QTBIPOC HIV/AIDS activists. But now… 1/5

It’s clear that a number of people who do not have first-hand experience of the psychiatric system do not realize how much it relies on coercion and control rather than compassion and care. This is not to say that there aren’t caring mental health professionals — there are.

The x waiver is officially dead!!! With a stroke of the pen @POTUS has followed through on the promise he made at the State of the Union to: “Get rid of outdated rules that stop doctors from prescribing treatments.” BFD, folks. Kudos @RepPaulTonko 👏🏽. It’s time to #treatOUD. – at Boston, MA

HOLY MOTHER-FORKING SHIRTBALLS! The MAT Act made it into the FY23 Omnibus! When this spending bill is passed by Congress, the X waiver will have officially been X-ed & life saving buprenorphine will be easier to access! Huzzah!!!
