The Toluwanisings saga is interesting becsuse two accounts confirm the man’s family want him buried according to Islamic rights and no one is even pointing to it and perhaps the reasons for his wives alleged refusal. A known gospel minister who profess a different religion, are you all deliberately ignoring that point? I hope his widow is surrounded by LOVE

the video genuinely is breaking my heart. he was genuinely being hunted at 8AM in the damn morning, probably running on an empty stomach, didn’t even have his backpack. those kids deserve the worst punishment possible.
CCTV footage has reportedly captured the moments surrounding the tragic shooting of 15-year-old Javits Frimpong in the Bronx. The footage could help investigators identify the suspects responsible for his death. This is heartbreaking. 💔 #JusticeforJavitsFrimpng

I have never heard anyone say, “it’s our tradition to have good roads, schools and hospitals for our future generations!” Or “It is our tradition to hold leaders accountable!” Or “it is against our tradition to steal public funds! You will never hear anyone say, “it is against our tradition to have children and not care for them,” or that their deity will haunt anyone who abused their spouse. Never! They only remember to weird their man-made tradition when it’s time to kill, steal, intimidate, rape and oppress others.
I lost my dad 21 years ago. My mum was just 40 when he died, and we were still teenagers. We lived in Lagos. My dad died at home. We contacted his brothers, they came, and he was taken to the mortuary. Some weeks later, we took him to his hometown for burial. His family members said that, according to their tradition, he had to be buried in the family compound. My mum was grieving her husband, and being the gentle person she is, she wasn't in a position to fight anybody. We, the children, were also too young to have much of a say. Initially, there was space in the compound where they could dig a grave and bury him. But one of my uncles, who was my father's immediate brother, insisted that my dad should be buried inside the room where he used to sleep instead. My mum was angry, but she couldn't do much. They had already been putting her through so much, even questioning what she had given my father to eat and what he had taken before he died. They even conducted an autopsy. Looking back, I believe my uncle's decision was to make it difficult for us to sell the property in the future. He wanted my father buried inside that room so we would always have that attachment to the house. But my question is, what difference does it make? Whether you bury someone in the compound or inside a room, does that mean the property can never be sold? If the family eventually decides to sell the property, the remains can be exhumed through the proper process. The existence of a grave doesn't automatically mean the property can never be sold. Years later, that same uncle died. Guess what? He was buried in his own compound, not inside his room. My mum even wondered why he didn't insist on being buried in his room the way he insisted that my father should be. This is why I find it difficult to jump into conversations about other people's family burial arrangements. I've experienced firsthand how family traditions, power dynamics and personal grudges can influence decisions during someone's most painful moments. So when I see people online making assumptions about a widow's intentions, accusing her of wanting to sell property or dictating where her deceased husband should be buried, I wonder whether they understand what happens behind closed doors. People should allow families to handle their own affairs. You don't know their traditions, their history, their disagreements or what they have endured privately. Your opinion might not change anything. And sometimes, keeping quiet about what you don't understand is the wisest thing to do.

I belong primarily to my wife and kids. I can’t take care of extended family in my lifetime & even in death still take care of them. Oko ki se ti baba t’omo ko ma ni ala. even I were communally raised, whatever I have given back in my lifetime is what you get.
The post is one of the reasons why there is always family feud after a man dies. We must learn to understand that a man doesn’t belong to the wife and kids only, he also belongs to his “extended” family especially if his parents are still alive (permit me to use the term “extended”). So, no one party can actually choose to do whatever they like with the man or his property especially when the man dies intestate. Everyone must come together and reach several compromise. It is belief like this that fuels the family fued that exists after demise of a spouse. Sometimes, it is not a case of people hating the widow but a case of people not wanting to accept that other people have rights to the deceased and his properties too. In some countries like Singapore, if a man dies intestate and he has parents, the intestate succession act mandates that the wealth is shared equally between the spouse and parents. Wives should learn to accommodate the husband’s family in decisions around the deceased and the husband’s family should also learn to accommodate and respect the wife in such scenarios too @TheYemiKing

For one full year we argued on this street that there is no Christian genocide in Northern Nigeria. Within a single day, a young man released a video of paramilitary-style training where young Muslims were being groomed to chant “Mass Genocide” against Christians in the Southeast. That same week, Sheikh Yahaya Ibrahim Masussuka, one of the few scholars who consistently preached against insurgency, was assassinated. Months earlier, Ibrahim Danshagamu publicly begged the Kano government to protect him after members of the Izala movement allegedly threatened his life. That same week, he was killed in his bedroom. Today, some elders of the Izala movement stand with a young man being trained to hate his fellow human beings. On this same street, members of the same movement celebrated the assassination of Sheikh Masussuka. If the Federal Government does not immediately proscribe the Izala movement, arrest clerics promoting extremism in Northern Nigeria, and release Sheikh Abduljabbar Nasir Kabara to continue deradicalisation work, this country is heading for disaster. We will one day wake up to a fully formed Al-Qaeda-style network in Nigeria. At that point, even Somalia will look safer than Northern Nigeria.

There is no difference between someone who commits an act of terrorism, someone who takes pleasure in it, someone who supports it, and someone who tries to justify it. They are all terrorists.

There’s a serious terrorism problem in Northern Nigeria. A scholar has been killed by terrorists, yet some people are celebrating his death?

APC definitely has an Igbo problem. This isn’t normal.
I just came across a communiqué in which the APC Youth Leaders from the 36 states and the FCT reportedly passed a vote of no confidence on Dayo Israel Tobechukwu.

When they finally mature into blood spilling extremists, somebody would want us to believe it is economic hardship and unemployment that resulted in it.
⚠️Translation: 🎵Give me AK (AK47) I’ll go to Enugu Amongst the infidels On a Sunday While they rejoice and clap I’ll light them up! …rudub rududub (gunshots mimics)🎵 Much as it’s tempting hope for a simple order for their arrest, it’s instructive to know that this “Federal” structure of governance in Nigeria actually accommodates them by the mistake of acknowledging another constitution parallel to the already flawed Nigerian constitution - Shari’a Law. It is on that basis that extremism thrives in Nigeria - from lynching in the name of “blasphemy”, to the full-scale Islamist militia attacks. In fact, it is the ground on which extremist sympathizers hope to manipulate the rest of the country into dismissing radical Islamism as being motivated by “economic hardship”, hence the need to listen to them and meet their demands. Nigeria’s existential threat is not the “economy” as such. IT IS ISLAMISM. Regional Restructuring tails this evil out from its roots and it dies everywhere else except the region that chooses to embrace it as a system, which will very well fall within their right. Imagine slaughtering a person because they have a different opinion about a book you both believe in. Imagine rationalising this death, asking while his body is still warm and wet from his own blood, why he does not believe in the traditions you believe in. There are many terrorists in that hellhole called Nigeria. The terrorists that are easy to identify are those with guns. But by far the larger number are the cowards, who hide behind those with guns and knives and throw questions to the bodies lying lifeless on the floor. How dare you not believe in Hadith they say to the dead, bleeding body. If only you did not say those things. I would not kill you myself but why did you go and get yourself killed they say. And those cowards, they are everywhere, in politics, in academia, in the civil service, in journalism, posing as normal human beings.

There’s nothing wrong with coming out every morning to see your husband’s grave sha. It should be comforting actually.
