Mary Elting @mwelting @EltingLab laser ablated spindles and nuclear envelopes in the yeast S. pombe, which has closed mitosis, and showed that the spindle can shape the nuclear envelope. The spindle and the nuclear envelope are a mechanical pair whose properties are well matched.

An elegant and compelling dispatch by Mary Elting @EltingLab highlighting the role of the augmin complex for the construction of mitotic spindle bridging fibers, which support accurate chromosome segregation. Thank you! @CurrentBiology @CellPressNews cell.com/current-biology/ful…

Looking through pond water today for vorticella to image with the @pco_imaging camera and also found this amazing creature. Anyone know what it is? I hear @viboud calls it a “stick worm” but that’s not coming up on Scholar 🤪

Dr. Mary Elting (@EltingLab) has received a 5-year grant from the @NIH for her lab’s research on the mitotic spindle, which is a “machine” that works to segregate cells when they divide. Read more below! physics.sciences.ncsu.edu/20…

NC State is great for undergraduate research! My first week here, I contacted Dr. Mary Elting (@EltingLab) about her work on the mechanics of cell division. Now, I create software that automatically tracks yeast cells as they divide. #ParkTakeoverTuesday #StudentTakeover @NCState
