MR PRESIDENT, OBI IS COMING TO STOP THE EROSION OF NIGERIA’S COMMONWEALTH — NDC The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has taken careful note of President Bola Tinubu’s swipe at Mr. Peter Obi over the erosion menace in Anambra State. But we want to remind the President that the mission of the Presidential Candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) Mr. Peter Obi and his running mate Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso is much bigger: to stop the rapid erosion of Nigeria’s commonwealth. Obi-Kwankwaso mission is to address the growing contradiction between the gains expected from fuel subsidy removal, Mr. President’s seemingly one week, new loan and the persistent underfunding of national budgets. Nigerians deserve to know what has happened to the promised fiscal benefits of subsidy removal, particularly against the backdrop of the administration’s frequent borrowing, increased revenue generation, poor debt-service-revenue-ratio and inadequate funding of critical public services like health and education. Obi/Kwankwaso will not allow Nigeria to continue borrowing at an alarming rate, without corresponding benefits, while citizens endure worsening poverty, unemployment, insecurity and declining purchasing power. Let’s look at the financial records of the two former governors - Mr. Obi left the equivalent of $500 million in investment as well as local and foreign currency, including $156 million in dollar-denominated bonds when he left office in 2014 in Anambra State. In contrast, available Debt Management Office figures put Lagos State’s external debt at approximately $190.43 million at the end of 2007, when Mr. Tinubu handed over to his successor. Apart from that, Mr. Tinubu aided the erosion of Lagos public finance by signing into law the pension law, granting former governors and deputies, including himself life time pensions, equivalent to 100% of the basic salary of the incumbent governor, houses in Lagos and Abuja, multiple vehicles, furniture allowance, utility allowance, entertainment allow, free medical care, house maintenance allowance, domestic staff provision, and other ridiculous benefits. The package was so outrageous that a successive governor was compelled to slightly review the law. In contrast, Mr. Obi never set up pension for governors in Anambra State The Obi/Kwankwaso ticket offers Nigeria the golden opportunity to make fundamental departure from President Tinubu’s borrowing-dependent and erosion of public funds model of governance towards Obi/Kwankwaso prudent management of public resources, accountability, productive investment and measurable improvements in citizens’ welfare. The debt-dependent economic model without accountability contributed to the decline and weakening of powerful empires and nations throughout history. From the Ottoman Empire and 19th-century Egypt to modern-day countries such as Argentina and Zambia, history offers repeated warnings about the dangers of excessive borrowing, unsustainable debt and poor fiscal management. If not stopped, Nigeria is in serious trouble. And of course Peter Obi bravely tackled gully erosion in Anambra State. Obi helped attract and launch the World Bank Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project (NEWMAP) to the state. He mandated new state roads to include proper drainage connected to safe discharge points and executed local flood controls, such as concrete drains in Adazi Nnukwu, Amawbia, Umuoji, etc. He regularly lobbied the federal government for ecological intervention funds with accountability. The bottom line is that Obi-Kwankwaso mission is about stopping fiscal recklessness and the erosion/decimation of Nigeria’s commonwealth, while providing economic opportunities for Nigerians today and for future generations. Signed Dr. Chiogo Constance Ikokwu Spokesperson, NDC National Presidential Campaign Council

They tried to use Islam, but Muslims said, "Not again!" And now they're inviting Christian leaders from Arewa. I wonder why our people keep falling for this scam over and over again. When they get what they want, they ignore both Muslims and Christians, we all suffer together.

NIGERIA NEEDS LEADERSHIP WITH ENERGY, NOT AN ENTITLEMENT TO POWER! Watching the events surrounding President Tinubu in Akwa Ibom, where he appeared to stumble and nearly fall, is deeply sobering. I wish him good health and dignity. But we must not allow courtesy to silence a necessary national conversation. Nigeria is too important, too young, too energetic and too troubled to continue treating the presidency as a retirement entitlement. This is not about age discrimination. Age does not automatically disqualify anyone from leadership. But the Nigerian presidency demands extraordinary physical stamina, mental alertness, sound judgment, compassion and relentless energy. We have millions of young Nigerians struggling for survival, an economy in distress, insecurity everywhere and a generation desperate for opportunity. They need a leader who can match the urgency of their struggles. My pain is not that a President stumbled. My pain is that Nigeria itself continues to stumble while its political leadership refuses to recognise the urgency of the moment. I believe in Mr Peter Obi because Nigeria needs a different leadership culture: competence over connections, service over entitlement, accountability over excuses, and compassion over political arrogance. We must stop confusing longevity in politics with capacity to lead. Nigeria deserves a President who can carry the enormous responsibility of the office with energy, clarity, courage and commitment. The presidency is not a retirement home. It is a national assignment. And Nigeria cannot afford another four years of misplaced priorities. -Dr. Mo National Coordinator, Global Obidient Movement.

Imagine serving as Vice President for eight years, only for the President who appointed you to later publicly admit that choosing you was a decision he regrets. That is a significant part of Atiku Abubakar's political history that Nigerians must not overlook.

GOOD DAY, MR PRESIDENT: NIGERIANS DESERVE ACCOUNTABILITY Good day, Mr President. I congratulate you on spending a night in one of Nigeria’s states outside Lagos and Abuja. I hope you enjoyed the warmth, hospitality, and delicious cuisine of Akwa Ibom, which I am sure is even better than those of the destinations where you have spent over 260 days outside Nigeria since coming into office. I sincerely hope this visit will inspire you to travel to the remaining 33 states of the federation, spend time with the people and, more importantly, explain what your administration has done with the ₦15.8 trillion saved from the removal of fuel subsidy, the over $100 billion you have borrowed, the increased revenues accruing to the government from taxing Nigerians, and the additional government revenues which your administration celebrated last year as having surpassed its target. Nigerians deserve to know how many that were pulled out of poverty within this period, how many out-of-school children were returned to school, and how many functional primary healthcare centres you have built. They also deserve to know how much electricity supply has improved, especially given your promise that if you do not fix power, Nigerians should not vote for you. They deserve an explanation of how you have secured the country, which still ranks among the most terrorised countries in the world. Mr President, Nigerians deserve answers. They deserve to know what has been done with the resources entrusted to your government. The New Nigeria we want to build will be based on accountability, transparency, and the physical, measurable impact of our public resources on the lives of citizens. A new Nigeria is POssible. -PO

Take note! Less than 2 months to election, have opposition parties locked down their polling unit structure nationwide? With how primitive our electoral process is, it is essential that opposition parties have a solid polling unit structure nationwide. Take Benue for example last election, LP won there fair and square but due to lack of agents to sign results, the votes were split between PDP and APC. APC got 310k votes. LP came 2nd with 308k votes. This was a state devastated by herdsmen and a Governor that was so anti-APC. Yet…. It is very essential now as INEC has produced several brand new polling units that no one knows about. Probably exist on paper but don’t exist on the ground just to pump votes. Opposition needs to get its polling unit structure right. Election is less than 70 days.

The most insulted President in the history of Nigeria. Today the same people that made a casket for a sitting President, made his administration unbearable, want y’all to shut up 😂😂😂😂😂😂 That manipulation won’t work.
Goodluck Jonathan almost killed us with this move and outrageous rate in 2015. Life was so difficult back then, unlike now that the price is around 1500 and everyone is now living comfortably. God bless everyone behind this change 🤝

Dear Nigerians, from now till the elections end in Jan/Feb 2027, you must hit the streets. Time to time. Can be Tuesdays and Thursdays. Can be Wednesdays and Fridays. Can be 3x a week. Meeting places can be in front of INEC offices in your LGA or your house of assembly. The pressure must be felt and dealt! Otherwise, forget about transparent elections. We will cry the same cry we did in 2019 and 2023. I will be vilified for this. I will be called out. But I will not keep quiet. #GoMeansGo #PackAndGo!

When I said Peter obi was a saint in comparison with Tinubu and all of the other candidates, some Yoruba fools came to wail like the zombies that they are. Cursed slaves, how many of u are aware that, since 2007 Tinubu has been collecting 300% of his annual salary?? The man has the whole of Lagos State’s resources in his pocket…Peter obi till this day no collect a dime after serving as Governor… The blind foolishness of some Yoruba people is exactly what brought us to where we are today as a nation.

Yesterday, I received over sixty retired police officers from Bayelsa West Senatorial District who paid me a courtesy visit at my country home in Toru-Orua. During the engagement, I thanked them for their prayers and support and assured them that an NDC-led Federal Government would work towards abolishing the contributory pension scheme for police officers as part of efforts to address the challenges they face upon retirement and guarantee them a more dignified post-service life. The retired officers expressed their confidence in the vision of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and pledged their support for the party and all its candidates, from the presidential to the State House of Assembly elections in Bayelsa State. I also received elders and political stakeholders from Peretorugbene Community in Ekeremor Local Government Area, who visited to appreciate my contributions to nation-building. I thanked them for their continued support and prayers over the years and encouraged them to sustain unity, promote peaceful coexistence and ensure that no individual or group undermines the peace of their community. I further urged them to work towards conducting violence-free elections, devoid of abusive language, intimidation and other forms of electoral misconduct, while upholding the democratic principle of one man, one vote. Similarly, I received the directors of the various NGOs affiliated with the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), who came to identify with me and the vision we are building for a better Nigeria. I appreciate their decision to identify with the NDC and commend their commitment to contributing to the development of our state and country. I reminded them that non-governmental organisations play vital roles in community development, advocacy, humanitarian services and the promotion of good governance. Sustainable development cannot be achieved by government or political institutions alone; it requires the active participation of citizens, civil society groups and community-based organisations. As a political platform, the NDC believes in inclusiveness, equal opportunities, social justice and people-oriented leadership. We recognise the important role NGOs play in strengthening communities, empowering vulnerable groups and holding institutions accountable. I therefore encouraged them to remain committed to their respective mandates, build strategic partnerships that advance the common good and continue to serve as credible voices for the people. Together, we can build a society where every citizen has a sense of belonging and where development translates into meaningful improvements in the lives of our people. It is NDC all the way! — HSD

There is no convincing explanation for why a candidate who finished third in the 2023 presidential election attracts this level of hostility from all directions. The intensity of the attacks raises questions that Nigerians deserve answers to. Perhaps one day, we will finally understand what really happened in 2023.

As Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi took several actions to address gully erosion and petitioned the federal government for ecological support, though his record is viewed differently by political critics and supporters. [1, 2, 3] Actions and Measures Taken During His Tenure •Road Design and Drainage Policies: Obi blamed past poor road designs for worsening gully erosion and mandated that all new roads built by his administration include proper drainage systems linked directly to safe water discharge points. [1] • •Site-Specific Control Projects: His administration executed flood and gully erosion control works in specific communities, such as constructing a 6-kilometer network of concrete drains and a reinforced concrete channel in Adazi Nnukwu to route water safely into the Inway River, as well as undertaking interventions in Umo Equilobia and Amobia village. [1] • •Creation of NEWMAP (Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project): According to former Environment Minister John Odey, Obi was instrumental in pushing for and helping establish NEWMAP, a World Bank-backed project designed to finance and manage gully erosion across affected Nigerian states. [1] • •Federal Intervention Advocacy: Obi repeatedly appealed to the federal government for ecological funds and special assistance to tackle the state's severe erosion crises, linking road construction projects with erosion mitigation efforts. [1, 2] • Political Debates and Criticisms •Criticisms: Political opponents—including President Bola Tinubu—have criticized Obi's record, alleging that his administration did not do enough to permanently halt the thousands of active gully erosion sites across Anambra State. [1, 2] • •Supporters' Defense: Supporters maintain that Obi faced a massive, geologically fragile crisis with limited state resources, making structural interventions like drainage reform and championing the World Bank NEWMAP initiative significant steps for the region.
