Pakistan has recently signed an export protocol with China for cherry fruit,l which shall open up new opportunities for cherry growers, particularly in the Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) region and Balochistan. Last week, with the support of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) and the Pakistan Horticulture Development & Export Company (PHDEC), reefer containers of cherries were successfully exported to China, where demand is substantial. More shipments from GB are expected in the coming weeks. GB produces approximately 6,000 metric tons (MT) of cherries, while Balochistan produces around 2,000 MT. Recognizing the potential of Balochistan's cherries in the Chinese market, PHDEC has engaged the DPP to conduct awareness sessions with progressive growers and organize visits to orchards and cold storage facilities in Ziarat and Kallat, Balochistan’s leading cherry-producing districts. On June 13 &14, 2024, PHDEC and DPP jointly visited orchards in multiple areas of Ziarat district, including Zindra, Chena, Pichi, and the surroundings of Ziarat city and Qalat as well. Awareness sessions on cherry orchard management in Zindra and Chena, emphasizing Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and addressing GACC’s concerns, particularly regarding Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) measures were organised jointly by DPP and PHDEC. A second visit is planned for July, and it is hoped that several cherry orchards in Balochistan will be registered by the DPP for export to China.

Pakistan and Uzbekistan Advance Strategic Partnership to Boost Regional Connectivity and facilitate smoother trade flows across borders. Visit of Uzbekistan's Minister Foreign Affairs to Pakistan paved the way for constructive discussions between the two sides.

A fifty-member delegation led by Ministry for Investment of KSA with thirty leading companies participated in the Pak-Saudi investment in Islamabad. B2B meetings with more than 100 counterparts were quite fruitful and inshallah lead to tangible trade investment opportunities.

Majority Ministers of Saudi Arabia along with big companies visited Prime Minister. Focus was on enhancing B2B interactions along with major G2G opportunities. Counterpart companies are interested in Pakistan business sectors and soon inshallah a buisness delegation is coming.

I along with fellow ministers have taken a follow up on the coming delegations visit and linking Pakistan business sector with their counterparts.
