Friends (and Romans and countrymen and women): My next book comes in February 2027, and I'm finalizing my spring speaking schedule. I have trips lined up that are quite far away (which is fun) but would also love to talk about this book closer to home! amazon.com/Literate-Soul-Tho…

John the Apostle loves to talk about doctrine not to prove that he is smart but to show that God is great.

Mark Driscoll is as much a cultural Christian as the progressives he complains about.

I've noticed when I say something that can be construed as positive toward the Jews, I lose followers here. PRAISE THE LORD.

“These days, students struggle with conversation. What makes sense is to engage them in it. The more you think about educational technology, with all its bells and whistles, the more you circle back to the simple power of conversation.” -Sherry Turkle

The reading comprehension of the SAT has now been reduced to tweet-size passages. I would have scored so much higher on the test if this was standard! Moral: do not compare 2026 SAT scores to those of Millennials+. You're kid's high score just became less impressive.

If your “Christ Is King” is always accompanied by vile, demeaning rhetoric about the Jewish people, then your Christ is not my Christ, and your king is not my King.

Man, I’m grateful for the mention from @Douthat60 in his latest @TheFP column, a characteristically sharp analysis which is worth your time to read in full. Unlocked link: thefp.com/p/ross-douthat-our…

I’m praying for a renewed CT that embodies the vision and spirit of its original editor in chief, Carl Henry, with application toward the 21st century’s unique challenges. It’s an important institution.

A student of mine directed me to this podcast with @DemarsSean and @danielghummel. Great questions, great answers, great tone. A fair, nuanced historical perspective on the history of dispensationalism. I highly recommend it. Two very minor quibbles: 1) My “Fathers on the Future” book doesn’t intend to place any system of dispensationalism in the early church. My own lay-friendly account of the history of dispensationalism in my chapter in “Dispensationalism and the History of Redemption” makes it clear that the stable pattern of doctrines and interpretations that make up Dispensationalism only coalesce in the nineteenth century. As far as eschatology goes, earliest fathers are actually premillennial, futurist, and take many elements quite literally, and their view of the assumption of the church is not as clear as various advocates of any modern view wish it was. 2) At times in the interview there appears to be some equivocation between “historicist premillennialism” and “historic premillennialism.” These aren’t the same thing. Historicism is a view of Revelation as a kind of charitable map through church history as its prophecies progressively unfold, as opposed to, say, preterism and futurism. Historic premillennialism is the claim that the non-dispensational view of premillennialism is not the same as that of the early church, though the earliest premillennialists appear to have been primarily futurist in their view of Revelation (though, like most throughout church history, they expected the end was near). Besides these minor tweaks, which are very, very minor, I appreciated the @RoomForNuance_ discussion.

Thanks to @ReadBakerBooks and Brad East for an advanced copy of what I believe is a sorely needed book for pastors. I’ve been looking forward to this since learning of it and am eager to talk about it with Brad when I’m done.
