From next week the word "Gasoline" will be banned, and thus no longer going up in price. Instead gasoline will be known as "Go Go Juice". Gasoline itself may still be increasingly expensive, but Go Go Juice isn't so stop complaining. Thank you for your distension on this matter.

Fab to see the Bayeux Tapestry @britishmuseum yesterday afternoon. The audio app limited pause 'design choice' fails badly when exposed to the reality of slow angry Brits. Overpaused Guy ended up shouting at the whole group for a full min and picking on a guy mid-line. Suboptimal
The new Jackdaw gas field will bring in £1.5bn over the next 11 years if capacity estimates hold. £136m a year.
By way of contrast, on October 15th Britain spent £48m IN ONE DAY balancing its grid because it was incapable of getting existing Scottish wind power down to the South.

Admiral McRaven: "Our current leaders are shameless and ignoble. They have no sense of dignity or honor. They seem to believe that the performance of curel power is what makes a nation great: the spectacle, the show, the crude theatrics of a tough guy. Nothing could be further from the truth."

It is a basic principle of American democracy that the government can’t selectively target individuals simply because of their political beliefs or what they say. But that’s exactly what the Trump Administration is doing to Congresswoman Ilhan Omar of Minnesota.
To understand why this is so appalling, it’s important to know the facts. Congresswoman Omar came to this country with her father when she was 12 years old. Five years later, her father became a naturalized citizen. If Ilhan had been 18 at the time, she would have had to apply for citizenship separately. But because she was 17, she became a naturalized citizen automatically.
Congresswoman Omar went on to graduate from college, work as a community organizer, become the first Somali-American legislator elected to public office in the U.S., and win a seat in Congress. There, she has been one of the Trump Administration’s fiercest critics, which has led the president to repeatedly single her out as someone who he believes does not belong in this country.
Now the Administration is actively trying to deport Congresswoman Omar, seemingly based solely on the unsubstantiated theory that she was actually 18 when her father was naturalized, and therefore is not a citizen. Federal agents have raided her home, confiscated personal records, and seized her phone — all to try and uncover a nonexistent smoking gun from 20 years ago that will somehow make their case.
Think about that. The full weight of the federal government is being brought down on a law-abiding elected official because she has dared to criticize the president. And it’s not the first time this has happened. Under President Trump, the Justice Department has repeatedly gone after those he considers his political enemies — from the Attorney General of New York, to the former head of the FBI, to members of the Federal Reserve.
In those cases, the prosecutions either stalled or were dismissed for having no basis in law, and the same is likely to happen in this case. But not before Congresswoman Omar’s life has been turned upside down, her legal bills have piled up, and she’s been forced to spend time fighting unsubstantiated charges instead of serving the people of Minnesota.
The fact that any president, or any administration, is willing to engage in such transparent efforts to intimidate someone should outrage all Americans, regardless of how they feel about Congresswoman Omar’s political views. Because if this becomes the new normal, there’s no reason to believe it will stop with her — or that future presidents, in either party, won’t do the same.

Much punchier accusations from Sir Malcolm Rifkind - a former defence and foreign secretary:
"I choose my words very carefully. I think this week Donald Trump has shown himself as a person to be repulsive; as a President of the United States to be a disgrace to his own people as well as to his international responsibilities.
"We all know his actual reasons for this are a grubby attempt to win a few more votes in the midterms by trying to get oil prices down.
"In order to achieve that, he has not only betrayed Ukraine in the middle of a war, fighting for its very existence, but he is also directly - not indirectly - directly responsible for the deaths of many Ukrainians who will not now be protected by the attempts that have been successfully made using intelligence provided indirectly by the United States."

2025 UK GDP is about £3 trillion.
If we'd Remained, it would be about £3.12 trillion.
The biggest point is that the total tax foregone since 2016 is £350-500 billion.
The sheer amount of tax foregone is the biggest single reason why everything feels so bad economically.

Winston Marshall isn’t just “an ex-Mumford & Sons member turned podcaster.” He’s the son of Paul Marshall, a co-owner of GB News FFS. When you’re platforming him on Brexit and Labour politics, that family media connection is material context — especially for a channel that regularly criticises the BBC. Why omit it?

The dumping of Starlink commences
🇵🇱 NEW: Poland is preparing to develop its own alternative to Elon Musk’s Starlink, potentially in cooperation with other European countries.
Deputy Defence Minister Cezary Tomczyk revealed today that:
• Initial offers have already been received.
• Funding has been secured, according to the minister.
• The proposed technical architecture is being planned.
• A formal project announcement could come within the next few months.
The system would initially serve Poland’s military, followed by security services, government institutions and potentially the wider European market.
The announcement comes amid controversy over restrictions on Starlink and Starshield services used by Ukraine.
Tomczyk argued that Poland cannot remain dependent on a single individual controlling critical communications infrastructure.
Importantly, the project remains in the planning stage. No operational satellite network or final contract has been announced.

“we will pay any price….to assure the success and survival of liberty.” Is this still true? Do we prize liberty or do we prize power and purse? No more clear test than the choice between Ukraine and Russia. Abandon Ukraine and we abandon liberty. Eventually even our own.

Former Head of MI6 Sir John Sawers, "Russia was very keen that the Leave campaign should succeed and that Britain should leave the European Union"
"Because that would marginalise Britain as a global player and weaken Europe in general"
"That's the strategic opportunity the Russians spotted, and the leaders of the Leave campaign fell into it"
My view: Former MI6 chief Sir John Sawers says Russia saw Brexit as a way to weaken Britain and divide Europe, and that the Leave campaign’s leaders walked straight into the opportunity.
So let’s remember who sold it:
VOTE LEAVE
• Boris Johnson — political figurehead
• Michael Gove and Gisela Stuart — campaign committee co-convenors
• Matthew Elliott — chief executive
• Dominic Cummings — campaign director
• Daniel Hannan — leading Brexit advocate
• Priti Patel, Iain Duncan Smith, Chris Grayling, John Whittingdale and Theresa Villiers — senior Conservative campaigners
• David Davis, Liam Fox, Dominic Raab, Steve Baker and Douglas Carswell — prominent Leave campaigners
LEAVE. EU
• Nigel Farage — leading political figure
• Arron Banks — co-chairman and major funder
• Andy Wigmore — communications director
GRASSROOTS OUT / LABOUR LEAVE
• Peter Bone and Tom Pursglove — Grassroots Out co-founders
• Kate Hoey — Grassroots Out co-founder and Labour Leave campaigner
• Graham Stringer, Kelvin Hopkins and Roger Godsiff — Labour Leave campaigners
• Sammy Wilson — prominent DUP Leave campaigner
They promised Brexit would make Britain stronger.
Sawers says Russia saw the opposite opportunity: a Britain marginalised and a Europe weakened.
