Someone asked me for a high-level map of Copilot governance and compliance.
So I mapped the whole stack.
> Inventory + control: M365 admin center + Agent 365 registry
> Identity + access: Microsoft Entra
> Data + compliance: Microsoft Purview
> Runtime security: Microsoft Defender
> Build + release: Power Platform admin center + Copilot Studio
> Content readiness: SharePoint Advanced Management
Microsoft Security Dashboard for AI adds the cross-stack risk view in public preview.
Then governance continues inside Foundry, Fabric, GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Security Copilot and Dynamics 365.
Purview handles one critical layer. Enterprise Copilot governance needs the full control-plane picture.

Entra Hardening Tip #2: Require MFA for device join & device registration using 'User Action'
If you donโt enforce a Conditional Access policy for โRegister or join devicesโ, youโre leaving a gap.
Attackers can take advantage of this and register new devices without MFA.
Once theyโre in, they can:
๐ฉ Stay persistent
๐ฉ Bypass controls that rely on trusted devices
From there, it opens the door to:
๐ฉ Data exfiltration
๐ฉDropping malicious apps
๐ฉ Moving laterally across your environment
๐ฉRecon of your device configuration and compliance policies
The fix:
Create a CA policy
โ Include: All users
โ Target: User Action = Register or join devices
โ Grant access: Require authentication strength - MFA

Microsoft have just added documentation for their ๐๐ง๐ข๐๐ข๐๐ ๐๐๐ง๐๐ง๐ญ ๐๐จ๐ง๐๐ข๐ ๐ฎ๐ซ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐๐๐ง๐๐ ๐๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ platform, which allows administrators to:
1. Capture a baseline of their current configuration
2. Monitor for changes to the baseline
3. Alert on configuration drift
This is an incredible step forward for Microsoft, and I'm looking forward to it being released. Obviously, it doesn't look compete with some solutions third-party ISVs offer on the market today, but there is a huge list of supported resources, and it's a perfect "good enough" solution for those who want to use it!
