From "the people's money" to Wall Street's favorite toy. 📉💸
Satoshi created Bitcoin to bypass the banks. Now, institutional suits run the order books, ETFs dictate the price, and Wall Street trades it just like any other tech stock.
Did Bitcoin sell out its vision for mass adoption, or is institutional money the only way forward? Drop your thoughts below. 👇

The people out there working hardest, putting in the most overtime, to discredit honest and courageous people like @mattkratter....
Let's see how time will illuminate their characters, and their reasons for going after people like they are doing...
(I don't have to agree with every single opinion Kratter holds to be fully convinced he is both honest and courageous. That apparently has to be spelled out in the current ultra-polarized and tribal climate)

This is very true. Many Bitcoiners are willfully blind to the fact that the layer 0 is people, not software.
Professional Bitcoin developers do, and are probably the demographic that holds less bitcoin overall.

As a former MSTR and STRC shareholder and semi-vocal proponent, I find their recent changing of the "never sell bitcoin" goalpost to be unsettling, their marketing to be distasteful and immature, and their categorization of bitcoin as "digital credit" (and not "digital money") to actual undermine Bitcoin itself.
In short, similar to many crypto adherents before them, they increasingly use the "Bitcoin is amazing, buy my financial product" tactic, which is disingenuous.
Strive management, on the other hand, has generally taken the high road and is now (in my opinion) one of the few exemplary Bitcoin Treasury Companies. They should continue doing what they do best--stacking sats and increasing bitcoin/share--and do so conservatively. Being too closely connected to Strategy is a serious reputational risk factor.
This is obviously just my opinion, which I would rather keep to myself... but you asked for it.
Cheers.

Fighting bad actors and taking a principled stance is never something to be embarrased about

this isn’t a company. No real engineering team does this
This is a skunkworks operation with 4 employees
They paid tons of money to podcasters to look the other way
No diligence. No accountability. Just take the podcast cash and shill away
The entire Bitcoin community was elevating a damn junky startup
Eff’n embarrassing

Austrian economics judges institutions by the incentives they create, not just the rules they contain.
Previous changes caused Bitcoin’s incentives to drift away from its monetary purpose, correcting that drift is conservative.
Preserving incentive drift because it’s the current state is just a status quo fallacy.
Bitcoin wasn’t left untouched. SegWit, Taproot, and Core v30 changed incentives. BIP-110 fixes unintended consequences of those changes.
Conservatism means preserving Bitcoin’s monetary design, not every bug that accumulates.
Saylor is trying to preserve the current incentives that will destroy bitcoin as hard money.
Bitcoin is either ONLY MONEY, or no longer hard money at all. A good money can’t have other use cases.

For a guy who was (supposedly) managing a 3-4b SPAC, dude found A LOT of time to tweet of unrelated BIP110
As an LP, I would be HIGHLY concerned about that
And this isn’t the end. If this is truly a ponzi, he just lost another spigot to keep the liquidity going
More to come

I haven’t engaged in the BIP-110 war, mainly because it reminds me of the block size wars (a massive driver in me selling my XX BTC then) and evokes a bit of a trauma response
Justin nails it (as usual). It’s a significant reason I’ve been so much more bearish/cautious and sold 50% of my BTC at 80k (obviously my macro outlook informed a significant portion too)
I legitimately cannot understand the counter argument
When I first heard of BTC (sometime circa 2011), it was via an obscure anarchist blogspot that was championing this new decentralized, permission-less *money*
A money that the government could not control. They couldn’t print more, they couldn’t decide who owns it and they couldn’t decide who gets to transact with it
What the fuck are we even doing these days? Seriously guys…
People I thought were hardcore Bitcoin maxis have turned into Saylor maxis
Now all we talk about is perpetual preferreds. Multiple to NAV. USD reserves. How to sell BTC to support dollar-denominated liabilities.
We have some ugly bastardization of Bitcoin now. Some version where the primary conversation *isnt even NGU*, but some financial engineering of some spook’s dying software business- not actual Bitcoin:
The fuck you, fuck your printing, fuck your centralized control— MONEY
I want that back. Give me that back and I’ll get a lot more bullish

Whenever someone tells me I should "worry about my reputation," I giggle a little, because it's quite revealing.
Whether they are genuinely concerned or just trying to threaten me doesn't matter.
What they don't understand is that people who are honest to themselves as well as to others don't ever have to, or even can, think about their reputation.
You gain a good reputation by being a good person and standing up for what you believe in. Not by gamifying your words to gain a good reputation.

We've sold $800+ computers to thousands of real, passionate Bitcoiners wanting to run Knots and BIP-110.
Anyone who thinks this movement is faked or fleeting is either lying or uninformed.
Saylor’s own undoing in this debate is taking years turning otherwise potential future Bitcoiners into preferred stock holders. Those ppl don’t have conviction. They don’t run nodes. They don’t care.
He’s wasting his own time now with trying to convince those same people.
Actually Bitcoiners who run nodes won’t be swayed by an appeal to authority take at the last minute. Fuck that.

If you want to know WHY all these bitcoin "influencers" are suddenly mass posting / panicking...this is why.
The plebs have spoken.
