Haven't seen a better set-up for an IPO than Tek4 #TEK4 for a while; not surprised it's flying

NEW Britain’s missing sovereign wealth fund… Treasury officials have modelled that had the UK done what Norway did with North Sea revenues, there would be a £1 trillion fund… As Chancellor sets up Energy Wealth Fund, a look at the long historical argument about where the oil windfall went, including from interviews with those who have run Norways $2.4 trillion fund, now the biggest in the world, filled from the proceeds of the same North Sea. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cm4g…

I know it's silly to personify a system, but there is something pathetic about the way the FTSE drifts around listlessly until US market open and then latches on like a desperate little sibling

Revealed: Ongoing uncertainty about water industry regulation risks triggering a sector-wide ratings downgrade which would add up to £40 to customers' bills across the country, according to David Henderson, chief executive of the lobby group, Water UK. news.sky.com/story/water-bil…

A lot of truth in this and terrible for the market. Whole sectors widely written off as uninvestable as they have the Sword of Governmental Damocles hanging over them
Replying to @John_Stepek
Trading the UK market has increasingly become about which sectors the government is going to smash/reward in recent years. Just as Adam Smith would have wanted.

Perhaps just as damaging is the inverse - sectors withering in a policy framework no-one seems sufficiently motivated to change Temu/Shein arbitraging tax rules to outcompete, manufacturers shafted by uncompetitive energy costs

People talk about the cost of capital problem in the UK. Not surprising when many investments feel like you're underwriting not only the business but a complex option structure on government policy change and timing

My wife just asked me to ensure that, when replacing the toilet roll, I use the toilet roll from the toilet roll cupboard and not one of the decorative toilet rolls on the shelf

Always heartbreaking when Supply@ME delay results. It's like cancelling the Olympics. On the plus side, at least I can call my girlfriend and tell her the wedding is back on

Delighted to hear that the UK government is contemplating finally giving something back to investors Only being able to claim back 25% of the money incinerated was a major disincentive to parking money in these shores 🇬🇧
This really is nonsensical. Claims £14bn could be raised by increasing CGT to income tax rates. HMRC estimates that a 10% increase in CGT would *cost* £3.5bn. Exact magnitude can be disputed, but it sure as heck wouldn't raise close to £14bn. thetimes.com/uk/politics/art…

Can we stage an intervention for $3851 Nippon Ichi Software? As a customer it's depressing. As an investor it's fascinating - some great assets (including far more than the market cap in cash & freeholds) trapped in a terrible operation

Poor results from #VLE today - flagged to be so, but never fun to see it on paper. I reflect on how much easier it is digesting weaker trading when it comes alongside a management team you trust implicitly.

I am a terminally online Reddit power user. I have spent years finessing a rapid, Pavlov-esque response in comment sections to maximise external scoring criteria. I've gotten very good at figuring out the appropriate output to a given input string!

But no, my objection to AI is moral and aesthetic. It has nothing to do with the abyssal questions posed by the fact that my own conditioned imitation looks like a poorly trained version of the very same thing
