Haven't seen a better set-up for an IPO than Tek4 #TEK4 for a while; not surprised it's flying

Just be careful with south facing examples having openings of more than 2 sqm, per regulations on acceptable thermal capture

00's were boom times, 10's had capacity for borrowing at negative rates... a lot of shoulda woulda coulda Usually combined with dithering about decisions which may be subject to precisely the same navel gazing in 20 years

"If we hadn't spent the money when we got the money, and instead we saved that money, we would have more money now"
NEW Britain’s missing sovereign wealth fund… Treasury officials have modelled that had the UK done what Norway did with North Sea revenues, there would be a £1 trillion fund… As Chancellor sets up Energy Wealth Fund, a look at the long historical argument about where the oil windfall went, including from interviews with those who have run Norways $2.4 trillion fund, now the biggest in the world, filled from the proceeds of the same North Sea. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cm4g…

Papiiiiiii!!
I know it's silly to personify a system, but there is something pathetic about the way the FTSE drifts around listlessly until US market open and then latches on like a desperate little sibling

It's interesting - likewise, when I've done this it's been super when I've looked back 3 years later and done an avg. return. Typically some disgusting pain in the middle in some names, and whether you would've/could've held or traded the basket appropriately is the crux...

I've never been to Peckham Rye but I imagine it's £44m on planning consultancy & £1m on a makeshift metal ramp

... but with none of the actual direction. It's an economy obsessed with telling people what they can't do (see: building literally anything) but totally incapable of any expression of what we want to be doing, collectively, and what we want to encourage

What we have at the moment feels to me like the worst of all worlds - over-regulated business, tidal waves of shitty, costly legislation, dysfunctional capital markets - perhaps looking like a caricature of a poorly run leftist economy...

It's a sign of the times that, despite my indoctrination, I'd be perfectly willing to accept a pretty heavy handed program regarding state direction of capital if it got us out of this sticky morass

Coming back to this late but I don't disagree. The Americans, for all their yee-hawing, are quite willing to be heavy handed with respect to direction of capital. Britain often looks aimless and strategy-less

People talk about the cost of capital problem in the UK. Not surprising when many investments feel like you're underwriting not only the business but a complex option structure on government policy change and timing
