Calling @MKBHDâs video âhateâ is misguided and highlights the nearly insurmountable issue the Tesla community has with criticism.
There was plenty to criticize about that unveiling and I thought Marques did an incredible job.
He is becoming a great force pushing against the growing movement in tech and now automotive of over promising and under delivering.

I had some time to let the roadster sink in. Iâve watched a few in depth videos by TopGear and Hagerty and I have to say:
Iâm kinda sad. In my opinion the SpaceX equipped car and the roadster shouldâve been two different things. The entire vehicle was engineered and designed around the CGT system which most buyers wonât purchase. Every ânormalâ roadster will be a stripped down version of a crazy track car.
I loved the clean, sporty vibe of the 2017 concept. I wish, we wouldâve gotten an updated 2+2 Roadster version of that and a SpaceX themed cyber roadster as a one more thing at the event

Sawyer went out of his way to misquote @MKBHD
He's talking about the rocket trim that's invite only. Yes.. 99.99999999% of people will never even have the opportunity to buy this car, regardless if they have the money or not.
Marquees is 100% correct. The coolest part of the demo, the feature(s) that wowed people, will not be available.
Marques Brownlee says Tesla will never deliver the Rocket version of their new Roadster:
âThereâs no way you or I will be able to buy this car. We might as well ignore this becoming a real product. The base one, the fan car one, I can see that being possible. But at this point, I donât even think it matters, because Tesla has proven to us that the Roadster is by far their least important product.â
I think Marques will be proven wrong, on all fronts. They didnât spend years developing it to just not make it. While this new Roadster still has plenty of development work to go, the 2017 Roadster was much more of a prototype than this new one IMO. Tesla wants to deliver for all the people that put down deposit money all those years ago, and I think they will.
Seeing a lot of head-scratching about how theyâre going to implement this monstrosity into a usable road package, and honestly, rightly so. But I have some thoughtsâŚ
The thrusters: theyâre listed as not legal for road use, which makes obvious sense when you see them in action. But that doesnât necessarily make them useless⌠the new Roadster is not the first road car to have features and functions that arenât road legal (example: race mode in the McLaren P1). Theyâve mentioned smashing lap records at racetracks, so perhaps a DRS/boost function between corners? And with how smart their systems are in general, the car itself would likely prevent any use of them on public roads.
Pair that with the fansâ downforce sinking it into the pavement, and this thing has the potential to destroy lap-time leaderboards all over the world. And considering the speeds in question, and perhaps its weight as well, the Roadster would be a great platform to evolve tire technology and material science in braking systems. The be-all and end-all for whatâs possible on a road vehicle, and wherever else the lessons learned here may transfer to.
Fan cars are some of the most intense automotive exercises out there. Look up the McMurtry SpĂŠirling, T.50S, or the Brabham BT46 if youâre unfamiliar.
Not to mention what preventive measures they might take to protect the COPVs and mitigate any leaks, should they occur. We all know what happens when one burstsâŚ
Now, about the car being able to control itself in the air and remain upside-down on a flat surface, I have no idea how they plan to make wider use of those capabilities. But knowing the engineers at Tesla, they usually find a way to make something work.
Just rambling and spitballing the thoughts running around the gray right now.

I'm loving the tech in the new roadster but how did we get from this to that? It would have been way more impressive to do all of what was shown with the original design imo đ¤Śđžââď¸

Hot take:
Tesla should have kept this design, focused on delivering 620 miles of range, FSD, and a fantastic charging curve.
The new Roadster is awesome, it's just not practical.

Iâm not sure what to think of the new design. Rear end looks brutal but the rest? đľâđŤ

We will make sure that itâs legal â at a minimum could be used to leapfrog golf carts in the Villages.

I understand that the social security conversation is political poison. But Iâm not running for office so I donât care about that. Taking huge chunks out of the paychecks of young working Americans in order to pay for the retirements of older Americans who have a net worth several times higher, all to prop up a system that everyone knows likely wonât be there when those younger people are retirement age themselves, is morally abhorrent and economically insane. Everyone knows it, too, but weâre held hostage by elderly politicians who refuse to surrender power, and older voters who, as a group (with exceptions, obviously), simply donât care all that much about the financial and cultural future their grandchildren will inherit.

CEO of Delta finally gave the reason they did not adopt Starlink:
âWe do not want to be with Elon Musk. Trust me.â
Side note: at a different, earlier event, Ed also said that [Delta] did test with starlink, but did not want to partner with Elon. âIf you know his reputation, itâs all true what they say about him.â
@Delta didn't adopt Starlink because they do not care about their customers they only care about their political opinions and they are filled with bias hatred and beuracracy.
They will be left behind and I will make sure I never personally fly Delta.

This is the problem with old people in office. They don't care what happens to our country because they will not live to see the damage. Politicians should be 30-45 years old. It's actually criminal that 80+ year olds are representing us.

No, President Trump opposed mandating EVs; he doesnât oppose consumers buying EVs if they want.
I feel the same. No mandates and let companies compete. Many Tesla customers arenât even EV die hards but just like the cars and appreciate self driving.
California wants to force all cars to be electric but they donât have adequate grid capacity to handle a forced transition.
Replying to @RonDeSantis
Tesla's factory was originally in California, and Gavin Newsom supported Tesla's EVsâeven calling for a ban on gasoline-powered cars by 2030âso it seemed like Elon Musk supported him, didn't it? Meanwhile, President Trump did not support EVs.
