BREAKING: The UK has just issued security alerts for Israel, Iran, Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt, Iraq, UAE, Qatar, Jordan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Syria, Yemen and Palestine, warning all British nationals of sudden incoming escalation causing severe flight cancellations, airspace closures and travel disruptions. "The context in the Middle East remains deeply unpredictable and the risk of sudden escalation is high," the new warning says. It now covers British nationals planning to transit the region rather than only those already there, and drops all qualifiers on airspace closures and travel disruptions, which are no longer described as potential. US embassies across the region ordered departures last week.

US military operations depend on regional partners allowing access to their territory and airspace. Any agreement that allows Iran to set fees for ships entering and leaving the Persian Gulf would keep oil prices high, causing people to continue suffering from higher prices: Brig. Both the US and Iran are looking for peace, but their terms differ. Washington wants to protect its regional allies and ensure the free flow of strategic materials, while Tehran wants to control the Gulf and international traffic and spread instability through proxies: Brig. Israel's Central Elections Committee announced hours ago that, due to the unusually high voter turnout, anyone in line at polling places at 10 PM will be permitted to vote. The effort by the Netanyahu-led coalition to demand that polling places remain open later appears to be the opening salvo in an attempt to undermine the integrity of the election and cast doubt on its results – a clear indication that the coalition is deeply concerned.

The Wayback Machine risks becoming collateral damage in the fight against AI, writes Internet Archive founder Brewster Kahle in The Atlantic. Blocking the Internet Archive won’t stop AI companies from scraping the web. But it can undermine a vital resource for journalists, researchers, and anyone seeking information that has disappeared or changed. I’m shocked by Justice Aryak’s judgment. I’m no lawyer, but I believe it strikes at the very foundation of democracy-the fundamental right to free speech. A judgment that silences citizens for speaking their minds threatens the constitutional freedoms of every Indian.

Films Division cartoon from 1972, ‘Tree of Unity’. I wonder what the 2026 version would look like? Perhaps the man with the axe would cut the tree for his businessman friends and then do Hindu-Muslim? H/t @sandeepd_adhikrut

I'm manifesting Israel electing their first person of color (Moroccan, Mizrahi) leader tomorrow. maybe he can lean on Arab parties' support to form a minority government without the ultra-orthodox parties so that they can force the ultra-orthodox to pay their taxes and serve in the military

Pakistan's diplomatic efforts have been appreciated globally, from Washington, Tehran, Ankara, Riyadh, Beijing and Moscow to the Far East. Pakistan is making sincere efforts to find an amicable solution to a difficult and complicated situation. The Israeli elections are highly sensitive and have further polarized the country. Netanyahu wants to continue the war as part of his personal agenda to avoid prosecution and court proceedings, while public opinion is not in his favour. The world is watching these elections closely, as their outcome will determine whether the region returns to the negotiating table or the war continues indefinitely: Dr. khodr Zaarour, Prof. Political Science, North Carolina State University @FPwrites #IsraelElections #BenjaminNetanyahu #MiddleEast #RegionalPeace #PakistanTV

Netanyahu's influence over President Trump has been dwindling since the war began on February 28, as their goals differ. The war in Iran is an Israel-Iran war, not a US-Iran war. Trump may carry out serious bombing strikes in Iran, but a full-fledged war would have economic, social and political consequences for the United States: Dr. khodr Zaarour, Prof. Political Science, North Carolina State University @FPwrites #Israel #MiddleEast #USIsraelRelations #InternationalRelations #PakistanTV
