The Site Area Emergency declared at 1739L after a fire in the Savannah River National Laboratory at the Savannah River Site in Aiken, SC has been terminated as of 2145L and the TFR over the site has been canceled.

An "event" at the Savannah River Site has triggered an emergency response including this temporary flight restriction for a "nuclear incident" up to 10,000' altitude and 3 mile radius. Authorities state that there is no threat beyond the boundaries of the Department of Energy facility.

AP: "[Spanish] Transport minister says crash was due to ‘inexplicable’ decision -- Spain’s Transport Minister Óscar Puente said that the accident was caused by what he called the 'inexplicable' order from a central command center for Spain’s trains after a security system had failed. He said the train engineers were not to blame. Puente said that at 8:30 a.m. the security system on a stretch of 63 kilometers (39 miles) stopped working due to a computer malfunction, causing all trains on that stretch to stop. But the central command told the RENFE train to start running again without any speed restrictions, and it ended up colliding with the stopped IRYO train at 8:53 a.m. Puente said that the train should never have been told to start moving again since there was still a 'stop signal' active that line. And if it had, at least it should have been told to go at reduced speed... 'I am not attributing responsibility to anyone, I am just stating the facts,' Puente said.'" apnews.com/article/train-acc…

This image is a composite of multiple images captured by Rubin between 4 March and 11 July 2026 at intervals indicated by the teal circles. ED138 is visible at the center of each circle. ED138 was found by Rubin Operations team member and in-Kind contributor Matthew Holman (Center for Astrophysics | Harvard & Smithsonian), who contributes to improving Rubin's algorithms that search for distant moving objects in our Solar System. Its distance from the Sun places it beyond the orbit of Pluto, and initial analysis indicates that it may be among the largest and brightest bodies scientists have discovered in this region of the Solar System.
