I decided to see if @Famicoman's dial-up Internet service, dialup.world was still up since it's been a while since I called, and it is, and now it has an awesome vintage "city ring"! Definitely need to start using it again!

Towards A Material Ethics in Computing, a zine based on our @acm_chi workshop, is now live! It's a record of the concerns and care we bring to our research on labour & the environment in tech (as well as highlights from everyone's reading lists) lowcarbonmethods.com/Materia…
a dithered image of the cover, showing a pile of technocrap with wires and boards. The title, Towards A Material Ethics of Computing, is rendered with collage-style typography. The T is a vaginal canal, the A is a shell, the T is a powerline, the O is a coil of wires, and the P is a bitcoin symbol with the bottom loop erased

"Metaverse" was a compelling idea in 1992, when it was the context for the novel "Snow Crash." Three decades later, a thing called "metaverse" is proposed as a massive grift. #metaverse

Does anyone have a copy of the Dukakis HyperCard virus? The first known HyperCard virus, according to Wikipedia, it "Self-destructs after displaying a message encouraging people to vote for Michael Dukakis." It would be really great to have a copy of this for the archive!
