Truly lost for words, THIS is absolutely everything that epitomises Fantasy League. We are not just a game, of fantasy football, we are so much more important than that.
Thankyou!
28 years our Fantasy Football League has been running in one form or another and Auction Day is pretty much akin to Christmas Day in our world.
It’s a day, once a year where I meet with some of my oldest friends. We all keep this day free and some people fly in from other countries (from holidays or Service postings) to attend; it’s important. We catch up, share stories, troubles and laughs.
When we started this as young men at the start of our adult lives, I don’t think any of us realised how important this group would become as a simple ‘check in’ whilst the ongoing WhatsApp group, albeit filled with general banter, keeps us in touch.
So here’s to another season (hopefully I won’t come last again) and here’s to the power and support of a simple group of friends getting together to trade fantasy football players and enjoy a hearty steak and wine dinner @HawksmoorTweets Kings Cross.
