During the Nakba of 1948, more than 700,000 Palestinians fled or were expelled from their homes. Hundreds of towns and villages were depopulated, leaving generations of families separated from the places they once called home. For many, the possibility of return has remained central to their connection with Palestine. In Some Return, @maxOSIRISart depicts a coastal landscape populated by loosely rendered human figures. Along a rocky shoreline, a gathering of figures emerges in vibrant colours against the pale earth and brilliant blue water. Below, another group stretches across the composition, their silhouettes dissolving into long, vertical streams of paint. Part of Return's Nakba collection, the artwork evokes the experience of separation and the enduring desire to reconnect with a homeland. Its title introduces a poignant ambiguity, inviting reflection on what it means to return, and on those for whom that possibility remains out of reach.
