He’s been rageful, he’s been renaissance, he’s tapped into the divine, he doesn’t wear shoes at home, and now Gen Z’s internet prince is in love.
For the cover of i-D 377, on the eve of his new era, we entered 2hollis’s inner sanctum to hear about creating electropop in a fugue state.

Mainnet is coming.
Noise was founded on a simple idea: cultural insight should have economic value.
Mainnet turns that idea into a marketplace. People curate and trade cultural signals -- and earn by seeing what matters before the world catches on.
Testnet closes Friday, September 11, at 9am ET. Thank you to everyone who traded, curated, and shared feedback. You helped shape the product and build Noise's first community.
If you purchased Credits during testnet, you’ll receive rewards on mainnet equal to the amount you spent. Only purchased Credits qualify. Bonus Credits, earned Credits, and testnet trading balances will not transfer.
Launch details & a few surprises coming soon.

Got so inspired by @FerrariJetpack's tweet the other day about building a site for NYC cinema that I decided to build my own for Seattle. The city is really lucky to have a small-but-mighty scene of locally-owned cinemas (which is part of what keeps me there despite its faults), and I want to see them thrive.
citywhat.com/seattle/cinema/
Still a WIP, maybe some bugs or weird UI/UX stuff lingering. I want to add a page for our local filmmaker scene (working with a couple of orgs on that so far), and practical info for the venue pages like restaurants, bars, and parking/transit. Considering adding adding larger cinemas, and venues in the greater Seattle like the east side and the islands.
Next I'm adding a theatre directory bc Seattle also has more plays an playhouses than most people realise and I want those to get some attention too. I've discovered some great third spaces lately so I think I'll make a page for that too. Expect me to use this to shill my Salon if I ever get that going...
Basically, I want this to be a hub for arts and community - stuff by and for the people of the city. And I can replicate this for other cities on the same site - @singularitttt already said SF needs something like this?
Anyway, I spent (and will spend) more time than you might imagine on this but man, what a time to be alive. AI isn't inherently creative but it sure gets the wheels turning.
tl;dr Wherever you are, it's always a good day to go out for a movie 🧡📽️
The plan? We use AI to replace jobs, but not the menial lower class ones. Instead we target the elite knowledge workers to flip the status hierarchy and undo The Sort, which will bring back 130 IQ local politicians, police, and civil servants, thereby reversing enshittification.

if you don’t understand why openai is doing this then you’re the one in a bubble. this is what the average person outside that bubble thinks:

fyi your employer (billboard) colludes with the major labels (their advertisers) to write hit pieces and takedowns of startups that threaten their business model lmao

AI labs you can stop thinking about marketing as media buying and start treating it as civic infrastructure
don’t just advertise your lab it’s getting loud, expensive and boring. Instead think about two things
1) creating places / opportunities where people can actually experience it (not in a SXSW 2012 activation way, but in ways that feel useful, public, and real)
2) think about contributing and showing a genuine interest in humans
if you support human minds and creativity beyond AI: plays, music, libraries, artists, and institutions without a single mention of people using AI you’ll do very well
Support infrastructure and human minds - people are OBVIOUSLY going to be using AI it’s not a question what you need to do is show how you’re supporting humanity outside of just your product that is how you win the public favor war
winning lab won’t just convince people to use its model. It’ll be the one associated with supporting people and making humanity brighter, more creative, and more connected to one another

This developing story about Dario's failed communications with the White House confirms everything I've ever believed about the enormous power of the Sales Chad.
You can be the smartest, most hard working, well-meaning guy around, but if you can't get people to like you, it's all for nothing.
When the time comes to send one of your own to meet inside the Halls of Power, you don't send the Geek Squad. You must send the affable, beer-drinking, golf-loving Sales Chad.
It literally doesn't matter if he understands the product half as well as everyone else. You send him. It's what he was put on Earth to do.

for the last year, @itsanhonour_ and i have debated the death of energy software and what comes next
we met @chief_seer_sdx and knew he was the one to build it
today, shatterdome energy is out of stealth, having gone from 0 to $Ms in revenue and profit in less than 6 months 👇
Hey there 👋 seems lots of new faces are joining Audius today!
A bit about us:
- music ecosystem that is programmable and agent/AI-native
- one of the largest in consumer crypto (~3mm MAU today on the network)
- mainstream product + open protocol
- $AUDIO powers it all

i don’t think most people have come around to how important the livenation verdict is for the experiential industry at large.
a single 3000 cap venue (most of these in new york are owned by livenation/bowery presents) doing 2 nights of shows at $50 a ticket 40 weeks a year is $12mm in gmv just from ticketing. that excludes merch, passes, memberships, etc. winning a single venue is enough to justify a durable business. and ticketmaster controls all of these venues above a certain size through a suite of anti-competitive measures arising from their vertical integration.
as someone who has taken away business from universe and ticketweb (also owned by ticketmaster), we’ve seen first hand how to win clients by delivering better outcomes using software and services. people don’t use ticketmaster products because the chose to. we know that much.
ticketmaster largely lost in the court of public opinion and that is likely going to be their undoing as calls for breaking up the monopoly come from every corner. i don’t know if it’ll actually happen but it is a strong case for reform across the entire industry.
