This is a great idea. But NOT at the expense of our green space and parks. I’m an essential worker and I completely disagree with the location!! We need all the green space this city has to offer. #pausethesaws

Well said @FiDiResidents! #PauseTheSaws to allow community input regarding placement/planning. Honor essential workers without paving over greenspace and bulldozing massive old trees. And kids can’t play on a concrete monument w/ an eternal flame. @NYGovCuomo @BrianKavanaghNY
When one takes bad land and turns it into a beautiful memorial, then that is dedication. When vane politicians take perfectly tranquil lawn space and turn that into a memorial, that is purely wasteful insanity. #PauseTheSaws #SaveRockefellerPark

As an ER physician I agree with honoring all essential workers, but reconsider this plan. Open green space has been essential during the pandemic for NY’ers. I don’t want green space sacrificed in our honor. #PauseTheSaws

New York’s essential workers deserve our honor and respect—and we can commemorate them with a memorial. But bulldozing vital open space in lower Manhattan isn’t the way to do it. @NYGovCuomo needs to #PauseTheSaws and consult with the community on location and design.
Governor, everyone wants to honor our essential workers that kept us safe during this pandemic. This could be in hazard pay or in raised wages or in putting their safety first in our regulations. A tribute for their service is nice too, but it should be with community input.

Dear @NYGovCuomo: This is how much the people in NYC love their trees, grass, and open spaces in #RockefellerPark. Families spent the ENTIRE night sleeping in tents. #PauseTheSaws #SaveRockefellerPark #BatteryPark

Today we sent a letter to @NYGovCuomo urging him to halt construction on this monument until a proper community engagement process has been followed. Residents have real concerns about the placement and the expedited construction following the Governor’s Wednesday announcement.

Only in NYC could a man who murdered his own mother be let out of prison early, be given free room and board in a midtown hotel, only to commit a vicious hate crime for no reason whatsoever. Local politicians created this lawless environment.

I never even knew I was pro-police until there were fires on my street, someone tried to break into my apartment, homeless people at my front door, a drug dealer on my corner, and people getting stabbed on my chelsea block. That’s when I realized our politicians don’t care.

I thought we are paying $237 per person for residents at the Lucerne? What exactly does this fee include?
@galeabrewer @GaleBrewerNYC @HelenRosenthal Manny Murillo, found dead of alcohol poisoning after a multi-day drinking binge inside the Lucerne temporary homeless shelter--a shelter that lacks on-site supportive services.

A must read. "This is not a housing crisis; it’s a mental-illness-treatment crisis... from a third to fully 70 percent of the street homeless fall into that group... mental-illness treatment “has been relegated to the criminal-justice system.” @informnyc nypost.com/2021/03/26/billio…

In this case our politicians are now compliant in violent crime, robbery, and open air drug usage. Next question?
Silence is Compliance. Remember that.
