Recently I’ve seen 'hero' used frequently when people speak about Bomber Command veterans.
Powerful word—but often used without much thought in wider culture
In this @FightingHigh podcast, I explore what hero means drawing on myth and literature.

With great sadness I heard from the family of George Dunn that he passed away this morning, peacefully, at the age of 103.
He was my friend, and I will miss him. But I have many memories of happy times together.
George flew as a Halifax and Mosquito pilot (1/4)

Remembering those lost in the Shoreham Air Show crash, 10 years ago. I was there signing books with veterans—Jo Lancaster, Bomber Command & test pilot, stated straight away the Hunter hadn’t enough height for the manoeuvre and should have pulled out.
