I swear to god if I hear another person on this app talk about the mainstream media while mainlining the disinfo slop on here all day, I’m going to lose my mind

I left a corporate job in 2023 due to burnout and frustration. I left to join a tiny boutique law firm and multiple friend groups commented when they saw me after I had left that I was noiceably happier, brighter; less cynical and more fun to be around. Make the move!
so many of my coworkers have commented that i’ve been much “happier and lighter” since i announced my resignation/ new job. i’m sad they didn’t get to know this me but so excited to feel like myself again. the sparkle always comes back with time. ✨

Yes in that the US is rapidly becoming a failed kleptocratic state because it has discarded democracy in favor of oligarchy, corruption, and authoritarian whim.

Russia may have more in common with us than Europe now. Keep an open mind.

I’m a corporate lawyer and fractional GC who debates whether I should take on or refer out a client’s commercial lease review and there are divorce lawyers out here just wilding, taking in M&A deals. At what point are they flirting dangerously with duty of competence issues?
Probably will get hate for this take but the worst lawyers I’ve dealt with on the transactional side are all divorce lawyers As a former (briefly) family law attorney I think it has to do with the fact that they don’t ever really have to be collaborative. They can just dig their heels in and let the judge decide who wins. Even when parties settle it’s usually in spite of the lawyer Don’t get me wrong there are good divorce lawyers that are thoughtful and collaborative but they aren’t the ones taking on M&A cases Anyways s/o to the divorce lawyer that ruined my day off today

Every single word of this post was more surprising than the last one. This post was a journey.

Just the stupidest people imaginable
Instead of the usual anti-communist/red scare monologue, tonight’s opening from Watters includes stuff like this… him bragging about attending the state dinner for President Xi

LOL if these dingleberries are telexing people, they are for sure not going to get a response. What's next, "Mabel the operator coulnd't patch us through to your phone using the ENIAC, therefore you are a fraudster"??
Dr Oz says the Trump administration will kick more than a million people off health insurance because some of them have "never filed a claim"

Talked to a potential client. Wanted to know whether I have malpractice insurance. I do, but apparently some lawyers they talked to before me told them they don't carry malp insurance. 🤯 I lose sleep over whether I have enough and there are lawyers out there just rawdogging it?

Ha! You're absolutely right. There *is* a 737 waiting to take off on Runway 19. 🛫 I probably shouldn't have cleared AA5404 to land there. 😳 I'm here if you need any tips and tricks for handling mass casualty incidents. 🚒🚑✨

For a department headed by a dude obsessed with frightening our enemies and men’s grooming, this sure doesn’t seem likely to accomplish either of those goals. In fact it makes us look incredibly unserious. Because we are.

I don’t know who needs to hear this but if you are selling your business and you also own a side business that is more or less competitive with the one you are selling, you are delusional if you think you will find a buyer willing to buy and let you keep the side business.

Hillary Clinton: "Right now we are not a serious country. We are a dangerous country. We are causing all kind of problems in the world. We're picking fights with our best friends. We're giving passes to those who wish us ill. We are not a serious country and we don't have serious leadership."

LOL one of my biggest law school wins was bailing on the law review tryout (held over spring break) and going to the beach instead.
Gonna be honest one of my bigger law school regrets was turning down law review

Landed a buyside M&A deal, a distressed M&A purchase, and finalized term sheet for sell side tech M&A client. Pulled in a small company client for general corporate work, added more work (fees) for fractional GC client. Down 35 pounds from my all-time high 6 months ago.
Happy Saturday! Tell me about a win you had this week. Want to hear more good news from people's lives.

Back at BigLaw I had someone with an office next to mine tell me that when I was on the phone negotiating a deal they could not tell whether it was me or my senior partner mentor on the phone. I had even adopted his mannerisms (to my horror)
one time one of the partners I worked for (who was super full of himself) said that calling representations "reps" was undignified and I've never done it again. funny how every M&A lawyer is just a collection of the habits they pick up from all the deals they've done and all the other M&A lawyers they've seen do deals.

This is some funny stuff
Wab Kinew reacts to Donald Trump renaming Lake Ontario: "You know when a rock band is really over the hill and you see them in a casino playing some song from like 50 years ago? I think that's the part of Donald Trump's presidency we're at now."
