Trae Young on seeing teammate Justin Champagnie leaving the court with a foot injury: "That's the worst feeling in the world. ... He's going to recover, and whatever he's going through, we're going to be right there with him, and he's going to be right there with us throughout his recovery, and we're going to make sure he's right. We'll hold down the fort while he's gone."

Erik Spoelstra on Cooper Flagg: “He’s an absolute winning player. A force of nature with his style of play. He’s gonna impose his competitive nature on every single possession. For a young player, I think that’s unique that he can impact a game without scoring.”

Toronto's Kawhi Leonard is expected to miss a period of weeks due to swelling in his left knee, sources tell ESPN. MRI on Leonard's knee showed no structural damage, but sides will use the shorter term to ramp him back up after the stoppages during the offseason.

Draymond Green speaks on Yaxel Lendeborg’s upside and development: “He’s definitely getting better each and every day. It’s extremely exciting because there’s so much he don’t know. He don’t know A LOT. I told him last game, if at any point you feel like I’m saying too much to you, you can tell me “not right now I don’t want to hear it” or “I’m good”, because I’m going to try to give you everything I know. And I find myself talking to him the entire game just telling him something different and he can apply it right away. Like you tell him something and he come down the next play and it happens, he applies it right away so that’s special in itself.“

Meleek Thomas Postgame After Debut Win vs Timberwolves: “[0:00, First Thoughts] I’ll just say it was an amazing feeling. A blessing, a dream come true…I knew my time was gonna come eventually and I knew that when it did, I was gonna be ready—[0:25, If Kenny Told Him He Would Play] No advanced knowledge, just going on the fly, staying ready—[0:52, Debut] I would summarize my rookie debut like I gave it my all, I played very hard for myself and my teammates, I wanted to be there for my teammates defensively. That was my main goal. Go in there and help my teammates defensively because we needed stops—[1:25] We never really got rattled. We just kept saying to get more stops, stay together. How we stuck together as a team and nobody put their head down. Everybody kept motivating each other—[2:09] I wouldn’t really saying anything surprised me. It was kinda everything I expected. What surprised me a little bit was everything that I see off the media or that I haven’t seen about being on the court, it’s real…they got really good players on the other side but we do as well. The players that put that work in is real—[2:54, Stepping Up] I’m strong in my faith. My motto and method is whatever God put you through, if you feel it’s bad as a person, then it’s for you. I was just telling myself, me not playing, that’s for me. He wants me to persevere and overcome whatever…stay ready and your moment will come because you can’t really keep a star in the closet for too long.”
