The hypocrisy is astonishing.
Some people are arguing that the woman in the Russell Brand case can't be believed because they didn't report the offence until years later.
Yet those same people will rightly celebrate convictions in grooming gang cases involving offences that were also reported and prosecuted years after they happened.
Victims don't have a statutory time limit on when they're allowed to find the courage to come forward.
You cannot demand justice for some victims while discrediting others for the same passage of time.

This account by @DanNeidle of Russell Brand's use of an injunction to silence (and bankrupt) a woman who accused him of assaulting her is shocking.
She wasn't even allowed to talk about it to the police or to medics other than named individuals.

On Thursday I wrote about the 2014 injunction Russell Brand obtained against a woman who accused him of assault.
I've now obtained the final order. It's breathtaking.
She had no lawyer. No trial. Yet she was silenced for life - even barred from speaking to the police.

One of the most disturbing things about the Russell Brand case is seeing how many people, including women, genuinely don’t seem to understand consent.
Agreeing to sex doesn’t mean agreeing to every sexual act. You can say no or withdraw consent at any point.

Judging by comments on here in relation to #RussellBrand there is still a massive misunderstanding as to what constitutes ‘evidence’ in a criminal trial. If a woman (or man) tells their account in court about an event, THAT is evidence. And it is sufficient evidence to convict.
