Since their promotion, Elversberg have made it clear that they intend to stay true to their identity: putting their faith in young, highly talented players and giving them the platform and opportunities they might not get at their parent clubs. And they are being rewarded for it. Not only am I genuinely happy for players like Onyeka, Krattenmacher, Darvich and Campbell, who are being given the trust and opportunity to establish themselves at a Bundesliga club at a young age, but their approach also sends an important message, that trusting in potential and quality pays off. Give young players responsibility, believe in them and they will often repay that trust. I have zero connection to Elversberg, and I'm aware of how much the club has benefited from investor backing, but through their approach, they are giving German football a lot in return, with an impact that goes far beyond their own club. The list of players whose development Elversberg have played a significant part in during crucial stages of their careers keeps growing: - Nick Woltemade - Paul Wanner - Muhammed Damar - Fisnik Asllani - Elias Baum - Bambasé Conté - Noah Darvich - Maurice Krattenmacher - Francis Onyeka And the list will only get longer.
