This is how a typical day working at Microsoft looked like. These jobs aren’t coming back. AI will do them. Factory worker brain from 60 years ago cannot comprehend such working conditions.

Chomsky was wrong. Researchers found your brain doesn’t store language the way every textbook since 1957 claims. For decades, the undisputed rule of linguistics, led by Noam Chomsky, was that human language is hierarchical. We were told our brains process language using complex "grammar trees." That we secretly build deep, abstract, mathematical rules in our heads before we speak. This new paper proves that is completely wrong. Researchers at Cornell University analyzed how people actually process and produce language in real time. They found sequences. Linear chunks. When we speak, we aren't calculating deep syntactic rules. We are just predicting the next most logical sequence of words based on the context of the words right before it. We string linear chunks together. If this sounds familiar, it should. This is exactly how Large Language Models like ChatGPT work. For years, critics have dismissed AI as "just a next-token predictor." They said it isn't truly intelligent because it doesn't understand deep grammatical hierarchies like humans do. But this paper suggests humans don't use those hierarchies either. We are just predicting the next chunk. Language isn't a rigid tree of mathematical rules. It's a linear stream of contextual predictions. We thought we were building AI to mimic the complexity of the human brain. It turns out, the human brain was just running a simpler algorithm all along.

What Israel did in Gaza may well go down in history as the most humane and precise urban warfare environment the world has ever known—the very opposite of genocide. The entire purpose of a genocide is to push civilians into the killing zone. Think about what happened in the Holocaust, where children in line at Auschwitz were given bars of soap, where inside of the gas chambers there were fake shower heads. What was the point? It was to trick and induce civilians to get in to the killing zone so that you could kill more of them more efficiently over time. Israel has done the very opposite—warning civilians and then manning humanitarian corridors with its own soldiers, risking its own sons’ and daughters’ lives to ensure that civilians get out of the killing zone. We see two remarkable things in Gaza. First, according to preeminent urban warfare scholars like John Spencer, Richard Kemp, and Andrew Fox, Israel has the lowest militant-to-civilian kill ratio in the history of urban warfare. Genocides have extreme civilian-to-militant kill ratios. Hundred, thousand, ten thousand-to-one. That’s the point of a genocide. Here we have a militant-to-civilian kill ratio of may be two-to-one—not consistent not just with law of war violations—but much less with genocide. Second, and more importantly, all genocidal regimes get better over time at killing civilians. Again, think about the Holocaust. The Nazis started with firing squads killing 20, 30, 50 people at a time and realized that was too inefficient. Then they got these vans and filled them with exhaust pipes, and they would kill more people. And they said, “We’re never going to get to six million killing them this way.” That led them to construct these massive gas chambers and crematoria—the architecture of true genocide—to kill thousands and thousands of people cheaply and efficiently a day. Israel has done the opposite. Even if you believe Hamas’ numbers, the scale of civilian death in Gaza went down over time. Israel got better and better and spent hundreds of millions of shekels learning how to become more efficient at preserving innocent Palestinians’ lives. Again, the very opposite of genocide.

The ugly truth about France and some of the other European countries currently in turmoil - and which none of the politicians want to admit because it'd be political suicide - is that you can't solve the problem by going after immigrants (as the right asserts) or the rich (as the left asserts), but you could solve it by going after the old. One extraordinary statistic for you: people over 60 in France, a quarter of the population, own 60% of France's wealth, non-financial and financial (ofce.fr/pdf/revue/2025/3-192…). And here is another crazy statistic: that same quarter of the population, those above 60, receive nearly two-thirds of all social spending by the French government (previssima.fr/actualite/prot…) - which is famously among the highest in the world (France's government spending is an insane 57.3% of GDP). Last statistic: they make up about 40% of voters because they're a third of registered voters (insee.fr/fr/statistiques/266…), and they turn out far more than anyone else (franceinfo.fr/elections/sond…). Put our 3 statistics together and there's almost a bit of an apartheid situation here: the old own most of the country's wealth, collect most of the social spending and have the political power to keep it that way. Which makes them a de-facto rentier class, living off assets and transfers paid for by younger generations. And, of course, at the risk of stating a truism, the future is built by the young. Yet France keeps effectively taking money away from them to give it to those whose working lives are already behind them - and need the money far less since they already own the country's wealth. What about inheritance, I hear you ask? That's the funniest/saddest aspect: given that life expectancy has kept rising, the French now inherit a home at 54 on average. The most common case is someone in their 80s leaving it to heirs in their 50s, in effect the very old transferring wealth to the about-to-be old (insee.fr/fr/statistiques/fic…). You can add this to our earlier apartheid statement: on top of all the rest, even when the old finally let go of their wealth, it stays within their own "camp". That's my personal situation, incidentally: I'm 42, my father is 71 and he is starting to look at ways to pass things on to me and my siblings, when our professional lives are already well settled, so it'll arrive when it changes things the least, which is pretty much the French system in a nutshell. Now, I get that there'd be some unfairness in going after them: they paid into the system their entire working lives, playing by the rules of a social contract that told them if they paid up they'd collect at the end. Changing the rules now means breaking that promise, which is admittedly unfair. But there's no magic wealth tree in any society: you can only take it where it is. That's the way most major societal transformations end up happening. They're often triggered by a catastrophic event (the so-called "four horsemen": mass-mobilisation war, revolution, state collapse, plague) BUT what really drives change is a transfer: wealth gets pried from the privileged class who've been sitting on it and handed to those who'll build what comes next. So, in theory and in an ideal world, you can do without the catastrophic event and directly proceed with the transfer... The fact that in France, and elsewhere in Europe, it's the youth protesting is probably no coincidence - even though they don't frame it as a generational fight. And even though, cruel irony, the left politicians many of them march behind promise to bring the retirement age back to 60 (lcp.fr/actualites/legislativ…), which would make the situation even worse. Let's say they understand intuitively that the system is stacked against them, even if they haven't yet figured out how. And politicians are obviously doing what politicians do, meaning pandering to the people who actually vote, while pointing the young towards easier - and politically convenient - scapegoats. To be clear I'm not saying it's the only problem in France, VERY far from it. I'm also not saying that all old people in France live a lavish lifestyle at the expense of younger generations: there are also plenty of very poor retirees who, if anything, would deserve more. What I am saying is that it's probably the biggest elephant in the room: everyone can see it, nobody dares mention it - no politician, from any side, wants to run on cutting grandma's pension - and it makes every other problem harder to fix.

Wehrmacht officer Axel von dem Bussche recounting the massacre of ~5,000 Jews in Dubno, Ukraine: “That line of naked people, men, women, children, old people, moved forward a few meters and stopped. [...] [The SS man] had twelve naked people at a time climb down into the pit and then he fired. Twelve, fourteen, fifteen shots. Then the line moved up.” Interviewer: “What was your reaction?” Bussche: “… Murder, yes. Mass murder, yes. But beyond that, the notion of extermination was quite clear.” “The truly Christian reaction would have been to strip on the spot and join that line.” There were ~11,000 Jews in the Dubno ghetto in 1942, and by the end of the war only 300 had survived. Sourced from the documentary “Der Judenmord - Deutsche und Osterreicher berichten” (Michel Alexandre, WDR, 1998). English captions translated from Bussche’s German, with lots of importanthelp from @gaemsae. Cut and captioned by me.

German politicians and government members sit in talk shows and tell us that they will not tolerate Jew-hatred and the denial of Israel's right to exist! Our Federal Chancellor Merz sheds tears for the Holocaust victims during a visit to a synagogue in Munich—everything looks beautiful and sounds fantastic! On the other hand, Germany and the EU import millions of Jew-haters. On the streets of Germany and the EU, as well as in city centers, people wave Hamas and Palestine flags, hold parades, and ensure that an aggressive atmosphere prevails against Jews and their institutions! Hardly any Jew dares to show themselves in public in Germany anymore! Since the Hamas massacre on October 7, 2023, a German woman married to an Arab man (she has an Arab last name, at least) has been standing regularly in Bonn's city center. On Münsterplatz and Marktplatz—the very place where Konrad Adenauer spoke to the Germans as the first Federal Chancellor after World War II—she waves the Palestinian flag, which to me is a Hamas flag. In my opinion, she is thereby creating a hostile atmosphere against Jews and Israel. On a Thursday in November last year, she was standing on Münsterplatz again. I asked her if she would do an interview with me, and she agreed. We were in a public square while two events were running in parallel: a vigil against Jew-hatred and a pro-Gaza demonstration. We recorded a seven-minute video, which I subsequently published on Twitter, where it went viral. As can also be read in the court judgment, she said verbatim that she has understanding for Hamas and the massacre of October 7, 2023, and that it is not over yet. When I asked her what that had brought the people in Gaza, she pointed to the participants of the vigil against Jew-hatred. In the video, she said quite maliciously: "Before we gathered here, Zionists gathered over there." I reported on this incident, and now a young judge at the District Court of Bonn has sentenced me to 70 daily penalty units (Tagessätze). I ask myself: Waving the Palestinian flag every day is fine, but when I report on it, it counts as defamation? I had expressed that there were "Hamas fans" there. When I asked the prosecutor if she could prove that there were no Hamas supporters there, she just smirked at me and gave a strange look. have committed no crime. Is this how you fight Jew-hatred? Where does the hatred against Jews come from? This atmosphere is created precisely by those who wave Palestine and Hamas flags and shout their slogans. I am not begging and I don't want pity. If I had deserved a just punishment, I would accept it. But the justice system here rewards Hamasism and Palestinianism. It was a case of one word against another. I did not force the woman to speak with me; she saw exactly that I was recording the conversation. After I learned about the criminal complaint, I deleted the video—yet I was still convicted. I would like to thank you for all the support, donations, and sharing. Above all, people must be informed about how pro-Hamas-Palestine lobbyism and activism in Germany and Europe are being supported and courted by the judiciary and politics. Meanwhile, those who show solidarity with Israel and Jewish people and point out these conditions are being punished, their livelihoods destroyed, silenced, and intimidated!" 👇 gofund.me/b85439169

1/2 Someone asked me on DM what roof tapping is. This is what it is. Israel fires a small warning shot onto the roof of a building Hamas is using. No warhead meant to bring it down. Just the knock. Get out. Then the calls, the texts, and the leaflets. Then, if the fighters are still in there, the real strike. This clip is Al Jazeera, live from Gaza, a correspondent in a press vest, and the knock lands on the tower behind her while she is on air. She ducks. The building is still standing. That’s the whole point of the tap. No other army does this. Not the Americans. Not the British. Not the Russians. Not the Arabs who spent the day firing the rockets. Hamas puts the launch sites and the commanders in the apartments, and Israel still knocks on the roof before it hits them. Then the same footage gets played as proof of a war crime. Watch it again. The warning is the explosion.
