Cussing doesn't make you cool, but censoring cussing definitely makes you lame.

There’s no “objective” when it comes to movies. I don’t have to admit anything.
Can we finally just admit that all the Star Wars movies suck on an objective level and that the various cohorts who like them only do so for cultural / psuedo-religous reasons?

If anything, the powers system of 4E freed you from the hard line role system of previous Editions. There's no way four fighting men are going to take out the big bad wizard in od&d.
5e then managed to restore niche protection, but without enforcing hard role requirements.

I can't stand it when someone goes to Reddit and copies "the most busted build" because they think that will make them good at the game. I have never, not once, seen someone net deck a 5V build and actually know how to use it. Meanwhile I've seen Pros roll random characters that are completely unoptimized for the meta, and power game the shit out of it.
Every party based RPG in existence has the role system. It's inherent in the party aspect.
Even Pokémon, baby's first RPG, has Tanks, DPS, and Supports (the standard triangle).
Any pretending this didn't exist in D&D until 4e is just wrong.

"Your ancestors killed 6 trillion aztecs with blankets so you could enjoy a vanilla mochaccino. Drink it with gratitude."
BotW IS one of the most consistently fun and engaging open world games of all time...
...Which is why it sucking is a huge indictment of open world games as a whole.
This is breaking new ground in online RPG pickup gaming.

A man finds a genie lamp. The genie tells him he gets one wish in this economy. The man states "I've always wanted to visit Hawaii, but I hate flying, create a highway leading all the way from the lower 48 to Hawaii." The genie replies "that's a tall order, do you have any other wishes that are more reasonable?" The man thinks for a moment. "I've always wanted that something like Critical Role but for Grognards. I need to get five+ Grognards in a room together who are charismatic and willing to spend money on their hobby." The genie breaks into a cold sweat. "So how many lanes do you want for that highway?"
"Ad&d is a shallow subset of actual D&D" -Gygax
“D&D can be those which feature comic book spells, 43rd level balrogs as player characters, and include a plethora of trash from various and sundry sources, AD&D cannot be so composed. Either a DM runs an AD&D campaign, or it is something else.”
Gygax, Dragon Magazine #20 1979
This is exactly what it's meant to do, and it's a thread running through td10's mechanics—especially the procedures. Chaining challenges and contests together will simulate rather than abstract (as the IFRPG guys have revealed to a gaming public unprepared for that TRVTH NVKE)

This may sound funny, but thinking about it, I think the BIGGEST thing ACKS has made me consider in every setting is "who works here." In ACKS the players can walk into any situation or location and the book can tell you who works there. And if they walk into a place foreign to the setting, it has a whole chapter on how to determine who works there.
And if you ask "who works here?" enough you get an entire secondary world.

Early editions of D&D are needlessly arbitrary and deadly to no good purpose.
It's bad at emulatint the source material (at least the source material it claims to emulate).
The most annoying Kender player you know is playing their race exactly as written.
The most annoying Tiefling player you know is playing their race poorly (possibly even wrong).
Let the reader understand.

Playing a character who struggles against their demonic ancestry is peak RPG material.
The fact that most people don't play them that way is of no consequence to me. I don't let those people at my table.
Tieflings are valuable as a PC race.
What's a TTRPG opinion that will have you like this with your old school buds? #ttrpgs

Pope Leo cannot open his mouth without revealing himself to be another garden-variety Leftist who regards Scripture as optional and authentic Christianity as an embarrassing inconvenience.
Yet every single time, legions of useful idiots perform Olympic-level mental gymnastics to reconcile two fundamentally contradictory propositions: that Leo is the infallible, unquestionable Vicar of Christ, and that he is also Schrödinger’s heretic; a blithering imbecile who has never once meant what he said and his inane ramblings must constantly be ignored, reinterpreted, or explained away.
If you’re a young “tradcath” who got psy-oped into believing that Jesus Christ requires unquestioning submission to a foreign, subversive bureaucracy: Protestantism is the one true American faith. It is the religious inheritance that shaped our civilization, our institutions, and our national character.
Stop confusing Roman pageantry with Christian truth. Stop looking to Marxists for spiritual authority. Open your Bible, reclaim your Protestant birthright, and come home to the faith of America’s forefathers.
The death penalty is inadmissible because it is an attack on the inviolability and dignity of the person. The common good can be safeguarded and the requirements of justice can be met without recourse to capital punishment: effective systems of detention have been developed that protect citizens while at the same time do not completely deprive those who are guilty of the possibility of redemption. #NoDeathPenalty
