Wow, this is what Yemen looked like in the 1960s under British rule. That was over half a century ago, but it looked decades more advanced than Yemen does today. It’s almost unbelievable compared to what the country has become. And it’s a testament to how quickly a country can collapse once Islam reigns supreme.

The Netherlands is a leader when it comes to food production due to innovations in agricultural techniques which improve efficiency. Growing a kilogram of tomatoes in the Netherlands requires 9.1 liters of water. The global average is over 210 liters of water per kilogram.

The BBC has agreed to pay £400,000 to an award-winning Jewish documentary-maker who alleged she was subjected to antisemitism and pushed out of the corporation after October 7. Lucie Kon, 57, spent 22 years at the BBC and worked on programmes including Panorama, Today, BBC Breakfast and Storyville. Films she commissioned or helped produce won an Oscar, Emmy and Bafta. Kon says her treatment changed dramatically after the Hamas attacks. She alleges colleagues described Zionists like her as “evil”, argued that Israel should be called terrorist if Hamas was, and told her to consider what had driven Hamas to carry out the massacre. When she proposed a documentary about October 7, Kon says she was told she was “too partial” to oversee it because she was Jewish. She subsequently filed a formal grievance, but a BBC investigation rejected her complaint. Kon says she was then kept away from work for months. During a restructuring, her position was made redundant and she failed to secure the similar role replacing it. She launched unfair-dismissal proceedings. The BBC has now agreed substantial compensation, reported as £400,000, without admitting liability or accepting that Kon suffered antisemitism. Kon says Jewish employees still at the corporation continue to face hostility and feel unable to identify openly as Jewish or Zionist.

Belgium restored nuclear power output Belgium’s two remaining nuclear reactors are back online, restoring 2GW of reliable power after months shut down. Under Bart De Wever, the government has also scrapped the nuclear phase-out law and lifted the ban on new reactors. Concrete action to reverse the damage inflicted by energy-illiterate fools. Germany threw away more than 20GW of nuclear capacity under Merkel, enough to supply roughly 30% of its electricity. Not just IMHO, 8GW can still be recovered at minimum cost and in short order. Merz must halt dismantling and launch a serious programme to restore capacity - asap. Removed equipment can be replaced. Political paralysis is a choice. That’s the difference between De Wever’s pragmatism and Merz’s catastrophic inability to correct past energy mistakes quickly and decisively, even with a highly capable Katherina Reiche as energy minister. Well done, @Bart_DeWever and team. @_FriedrichMerz @BMWE_
België en @ENGIE_energie zijn erin geslaagd de kerncentrales Doel IV en Tihange III in een half jaar volledig te reviseren, alle veiligheidsprocedures te doorlopen en weer op te starten. Terwijl sluiting gepland was. Dat is een applausje waard, vindt u niet? #grafiekvandedag

It's the same pretty much everywhere with rent controls. A story from Berlin:
True in Spain too. Every landlord in Madrid and Barcelona screens the renters now. This is an obvious consequence of rent control. The most vulnerable, ostensible protected by the legislation, are in fact excluded from the rental market: if you cannot be evicted for non payment, then you are too risky a renter.

The crossings are not closed. The reason for the current food shortage is this: Hamas added another tax on Gazan merchants. They rebelled so Hamas arrested one of their sons. Then the merchants stopped importing food in protest. The whole thing is the wealthy Gaza elite squabbling with each other. Nothing whatsoever to do with Israel. #TheGazaYouDontSee
Once again in Gaza, a "famine" manufactured 100% by Hamas*. Abu Khadar reminds us what famine really means in Gaza. It doesn't mean no food, it means Gazans have to eat canned beans and hummus instead of fresh food**. Timestamps: Yesterday 22 Oct '26 *A reminder: Last week, Hamas raised the already very high taxes on Gaza merchants importing food into Gaza, the merchants rebelled, Hamas arrested the son of one of the merchants, the merchants stopped bringing in food. Now Hamas enjoys the propaganda benefits of a completely artificial, manufactured food shortage. **A commenter says flour, lentils, rice and beans were thrown into the trash. #TheGazaYouDontSee Links in 1st response

On this day—October 22, 2010 Andrew Whitley, director of UNRWA’s New York office, told a Washington conference that the Palestinian “right of return” was unlikely to be exercised to any significant extent inside Israel, that most refugees would remain where they were, and that it was cruel to leave them with the illusion that they would one day return to homes inside what is now Israel. For saying these words, Whitley was attacked and forced into a retraction. UNRWA’s goal has been clear for decades: make “refugees” out of the descendants of Palestinian refugees so instead of shrinking as they resettle, they never resettle and the number grows exponentially to be used as a demographic weapon ensuring any “two state solution” would actually create two Arab states. UNRWA responded to Whitley saying his comments did not reflect the agency’s policies. Whitley gave in to the pressure quickly. He sent a letter retracting his comments and called them “inappropriate and wrong.” UNRWA released the letter publicly. Under UNRWA’s rules, refugee status is transmitted to descendants, producing a registered population that has grown from about 700,000 in 1948–49 to nearly six million today. This is unique to UNRWA and does not apply to any other refugees on Earth. The UN High Commissioner for Refugees seeks durable solutions including local integration and resettlement. UNRWA, on the other hand, keeps refugees as refugees no matter where they live in the world, no matter how successful they may have become, and no matter how far removed they are from the 1948 conflict. In short, UNRWA is one of the greatest weapons used against Israel’s continued existence. Whitley’s initial remarks were consistent with the outcome of every other major refugee population in the 20th century. The public reaction from Palestinian officials, Jordan, and others, followed by the agency’s disavowal and Whitley’s retraction, was a blatant example of UNRWA’s real “mandate.”

Denmark spent decades building nearly 5,000 wind turbines Together, they produced 21.6 TWh in the last 12 months One nuclear plant in Sweden made 23.3 TWh Oh, and nuclear runs 24/7 — wind doesn’t There's one big reason Denmark has some of the most expensive electricity in the world transparency.entsoe.eu/gener… api.energidataservice.dk/dat… eia.gov/electricity/monthly/… iaea.org/publications/16059
Fun fact: Sweden has four nuclear reactors that have each generated more electricity than all Danish wind turbines ever. Forsmark 3 and Oskarshamn 3 started in 1985, the year Denmark banned nuclear. Both still ahead of Denmark’s entire wind fleet.

There's a large Vietnamese community in France 🇫🇷. Vietnam was a French colony that was ruled more directly and for longer than Algeria in many respects. Vietnamese kids top the French education rankings, have some of the lowest unemployment of any immigrant group, and somehow managed not to set Paris on fire. Weird how some use “colonial trauma” as a reason to succeed and others treat it as a reason to riot
American-Egyptian activist Eman Mabrouk celebrates the riots in France: ''I think burn it all down, stop sucking European Master's dicks, liberation isn't going to be pretty, it's going to cost blood, it's going to cost lives.'' Really cool how this third world bio-weapon somehow gets a piece of paper calling her American even as she agitates for race war against white people. 70,000 Instagram likes! Also really fucking cool that so-called ''Australian'' citizen Dr. Mo Mustafa - widely known as the "Beast from the Middle East'' - collaborated with her on this Instagram reel. He calls himself an Australian for the benefits of the passport while endorsing videos like this which call for explicit race war against Europeans. Western immigration policy has been a catastrophe for decades, how the fuck did these people get passports when they hate us this much.

Dit soort cabaret bestaat niet in Nederland. Een gemis?
As a Jew I always loved Jewish jokes. The more offensive the better. It’s fun for a Jew to look at themselves in a mirror and check for the flows that may become a joke. A Holocaust survivor told me once that despite the most unimaginable level of suffering in Treblinka there was always someone to come up with a joke about the absurdity of life or how God was laughing at them. Tragic? Yes. But for us it’s called resilience. Our Muslim friends don’t have the same level of self-questioning. So, here is for them, 2 minutes of good humor they really deserve.
