The increases are off the back of huge drops until 2019 too

Pension is also government controlled. So are the taxes I’ll have to pay to actually fund equivalent pension to what super provides, instead of what this analysis suggests (the original post)

Not really with the logic he has displayed with this.

Terrible comparison.
They aren’t the same.
Paying double the welfare pension at age 60 not means tested would need to be costed. Not 67+ means tested.
Super is a great system. Stop taxing contributions and earnings through and it’ll be even better.

Insignificant compared to AUD v imported goods and slow down in new money created via bank loans. They are deflationary.
Also, household spending was 2/3 new EVs on a lease (not boomers).
Government spending is up hugely though.

To stop this madness all @AlboMP has to do is fix the sex discrimination act with any one of the bills by Michaelia Cash, Pauline Hanson or Allison Penfold, or Labor can create their own, & make it clear that no man can identify into the legal class of woman for any reason, women are adult human females & sex is biological not legal. He could do it today.
This isn’t a culture war, Mr Prime Minister, this is a culture gone awry.

People pay more to live near the beach. That’s why houses go up on certain areas. Feel free to buy in a bad suburb if you like

Huge net migration over that period saw demand for rentals sky rocket. It’s not investors creating the rental demand. It’s the rental demand creating investors.

No they won’t. They’ve been jumping from the old thing to the new thing for 10 years now
Div296. They tried to tax unrealised gains and failed 3 times in senate. They got through 30% tax rate though

It’s your governments that are the problem.

Yes. And it pumped prices. They’d not have gone up so much this last year.

I don’t imagine @SwannyQLD attempted to explain the desirability of:
- taxing the real gains on a simple portfolio like 👇 at 70% or
- a 60% tax on typical small business arrangements
was good for productivity?

It’s not often you get the opportunity to follow a former Treasurer on stage and pull apart the case they’ve just made. Wayne Swan told the The @FinancialReview Super & Wealth Summit that the CGT changes are 25 years overdue.
I then joined Rebecca Zwier, John Bongiorno and Michael Fox to explain why we think they’ll have disastrous consequences for the economy. From individual shareholders and business owners to companies raising capital and the property market. I learned from Michael that even the local art market is feeling the pain...
Investors are being pushed out of direct shares and into ETFs and other pooled structures to avoid tax rates as high as 82%. Meanwhile the ASX small cap market is a basket case - these changes will make it even harder for Australian businesses to attract capital and grow.
All four panellists agreed on one thing... hiking CGT isn’t the solution to Australia’s housing and productivity problems.
Thanks to @JoannaMather for leading a great discussion.
