Woke up with a new arrest warrant & a HKD1m bounty. Grateful for those who reached out & offered support to me & fellow #Hongkongers who are wanted by the govt. As I process this, let me reiterate that my advocacy for democracy & freedom has not and will not stop. #FreeHK ✊🏼

The U.S. strongly condemns the Hong Kong Court’s decision to once again sentence Joshua Wong for exercising his freedom of speech. He has used peaceful means to defend the rights promised to all individuals in Hong Kong. We call for his immediate release and that of all unjustly detained persons.

“Joshua is made differently — and specifically for this — he embodied the hope people had for the future of Hong Kong.” Our Policy and Advocacy Manager @frances_hui spoke to @itvnews about her friend Joshua Wong @joshuawongcf after Hong Kong judge William Tam sentenced Wong to a decade behind bars. youtu.be/D-J8tR15SZg?si=a2hH…

Replying to @frances_hui
@frances_hui reacts to the heartbreaking news that her friend, Hong Kong pro-democracy activist Joshua Wong, has been sentenced to another 10 years in prison." Wong, who has been imprisoned since November 2020, was due to be released in January 2027, having been sentenced to four years and eight months for conspiracy to commit subversion in the landmark Hong Kong 47 case. But on June 6, 2025, national security police arrested him again, inside Stanley Prison, and charged him with conspiracy to collude with foreign forces. We urge the international community to demand Joshua Wong's immediate release and hold Hong Kong and Chinese officials accountable for their ongoing repression. The world must not stay silent as Hong Kong's pro-democracy voices are silenced. #JoshuaWong #FreeJoshuaWong

Justice, Hong Kong style: Joshua Wong @joshuawongcf got sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment today for lobbying internationally for Hong Kong democracy. By contrast, a Hong Kong pro-Beijing politician got sentenced to 2.5 years’ imprisonment yesterday for an act of paedophilia.

Joshua Wong shows the flame of freedom is still alive in Hong Kong. Xi Jinping runs scared of those who believe in free speech. Today his puppet Hong Kong courts added 10 years to Wong’s sentence. We must all be a voice for those the Chinese Communist Party seeks to silence.
Joshua Wong, one of Hong Kong's best-known pro-democracy activists, was sentenced to 10 years in prison on Thursday in a fresh national security prosecution brought while he was already serving time behind bars. Wong, who has been imprisoned since November 2020, was due to be released in January 2027, having been sentenced to four years and eight months for conspiracy to commit subversion in the landmark Hong Kong 47 case. But on June 6, 2025, national security police arrested him again, inside Stanley Prison, and charged him with conspiracy to collude with foreign forces. Joshua Wong is a hero of our times. His incarceration - now for an extra 10 years - is a sign of Beijing's brutal attack on free speech in this once free city. @frances_hui said they're trying to make him disappear. Don't let them get away with this. indexoncensorship.org/2026/0…

BREAKING: #JoshuaWong sentenced to 10 years under Hong Kong’s National Security Law. Expected release: late 2036. Jailed since 2020, he was arrested again inside prison last year for his international advocacy. He deserves freedom, not another decade behind bars.

On Capitol Hill today to meet Congressional offices about the Hong Konger Promise of Refuge Act. Hongkongers in the US fled an authoritarian crackdown back home. They have followed every requirement imposed on them by the US government. They are here legally. They should not be detained by ICE and treated like criminals. Joshua Wong will be sentenced this Thursday, Nov. 5, after pleading guilty to conspiring to collude with foreign forces under Hong Kong’s National Security Law. He has been behind bars since November 2020 and was due for release in January 2027, but national security police arrested him inside Stanley Prison on a new charge, and if the court deems the offense “grave,” he could face life in prison. Our Policy and Advocacy Manager @frances_hui explains what's at stake for Joshua and for every Hong Konger who still has ties to friends abroad.

The Chinese Communist Party continues to imprison those who dare to speak, assemble, and worship freely. On the International Day of Political Prisoners, the October 30 Coalition partners and the families of Chinese political prisoners gathered to amplify their calls for freedom and demand their release. #FreedomStartsWithAName

What does it look like when Beijing’s reach follows you across the Pacific? Our policy and advocacy manager, @Frances_Hui, knows firsthand, and she’ll share her story in a featured conversation at @VoCommunism’s China Forum in Washington, DC. She’ll discuss her move from Hong Kong to the United States, the transnational repression authorities use to deter activism abroad, and how Hong Kong advocates have adapted, along with Jimmy Lai, the Hong Kong Alliance case, and religious freedom in China and Hong Kong. 📅 Nov. 9-10 📍 Victims of Communism Museum Register: chinaforum.org/rsvp/

Periodic reminder that many Hong Kong political prisoners plead guilty in order to get "discounts" on their sentences and/or because the conviction rate for cases presided over by national security judges (like this one) is very close to 100%.
#HongKong #PoliticalPrisoner Joshua Wong’ll be sentenced this Thurs, Nov 5 at 9:30am HK time. He plead guilty to “conspiracy to collude w foreign forces” & is currently serving a sentence in the HK47 case due to expire in Jan 2027. The regime’s trying to put him away indefinitely

A warm welcome indeed. While you’re “rethinking the playbook,” your guests might want to skim Hong Kong’s national security laws first. Passing along economic figures, writing up a market outlook, or questioning a government decision can now draw an investigation or worse. Economic information can count as a “state secret,” ties to “external forces” can turn sedition into a 10-year sentence, and none of it stops at the border or spares foreigners. Enjoy the lion dance!
A warm welcome to HK! Under the theme 𝗥𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸, the Global Financial Leaders’ Investment Summit 2026 kicked off with a welcome dinner featuring lion dance and drum performances, neon lights and discussions on the evolving technology landscape.

“Jimmy Lai and Joshua Wong carried Hong Kongers’ voices to the world and inspired many to stand up for freedom. Today, Beijing is punishing them for it.” Tonight, at the Lincoln Memorial, @Frances_Hui joined @NEDemocracy and the October 30 Coalition to mark the International Day of Political Prisoners, speaking about two Hong Kongers from different generations who are paying the same price for freedom. Jimmy Lai fled Communist China at 12 and built a life in Hong Kong defending the freedom it gave him, founding Apple Daily to give Hong Kongers a voice. Now 78, he has spent nearly six years in prison, mostly in solitary confinement, and was sentenced to 20 years in February. Joshua Wong, who rose to prominence as a teenage activist, turned 30 this month, spending his sixth birthday in a row behind bars, and he now faces another sentence for his international advocacy. They have not given up on Hong Kong, and we must not give up on them.

168 ppl died in the Tai Po fire. 11 mo/ later, no govt official has faced criminal charges. One secretary resigns, yet John Lee insists she did nothing wrong—she merely bears “political responsibility.” This is an insult to the victims & their families. reuters.com/world/china/hong…

A few seconds of bowing cannot undo years of negligence. Nor can one resignation substitute for genuine accountability. Hongkongers deserve to know who failed them. Why repeated warnings were ignored. What consequences those responsible will face.

And let's not forget: when Hongkongers demanded an independent inquiry, authorities arrested ppl under sedition laws. Those demanding answers faced criminal scrutiny long before any govt official did. What kind of accountability is that? apnews.com/article/hong-kong…
