This is a drop in the bucket compared to how much international auto companies have been investing here for decades but it’s still a nice bump.
.@POTUS: I am thrilled to announce a massive auto manufacturing investment in the Great State of Georgia. Audi has just committed to invest $4.25 BILLION in Macon β€” to begin construction next month on a massive plant that will produce 200,000 cars per year.

Former Rep. Jack Kemp here with a pretty good intro to conservative/GOP trade policy. What do you think?

In primary/caucus contests when Trump first ran, GOP voters preferred someone other than Trump until he was viewed as the inevitable nominee and others dropped out. Republicans preferred "someone else" but those candidates killed each other and split the vote and Trump was nominated. I realize this may be common knowledge. Disclaimer: This is an a.i. chart and I am no electoral historian.

➑️Great question @tomkeene ❗️
UNEARTHED: Roger Marshall offers a stirring defense of tariffs by explaining "bankruptcies are up, suicides are up, but nevertheless we have hope"

The economic legacy of the last two years in a single chart. Americans hate tariffs.

Here’s a chart for the GOP Reagan deniers. 3 biggest wins since 1980 were: 1980 (Reagan) 1984 (Reagan) 1988 (GHW Bush running on Reagan’s record) 1992 and 1996 percentages are a bit glitchy due to Perot third-party candidacies. I know. β€œThat was a long time ago, we just need MORE tariffs.” πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

My naive optimism: the stupidity of this administration might taint tariffs for a generation. That could make the whole episode net positive
Just such a fun chart here from @greg_ip. If only we could tease out some meaning. Ah, well, nevertheless. 🀣

Hamilton sounds like a traditional Kansas Republican here. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ Not sure why Marshall is defending tariffs….
Roger Marshall said that 'tariffs are working' at the Kansas Senate debate today. The crowd cheered when Democrat Adam Hamilton pushed back

One of many things my old Senator, @SamuelBrownback, was right about: "Mr. Chairman, members, we are a Nation made prosperous in significant part by the toil of immigrants. America is a Nation of immigrants who, energized by liberty and resources, have helped catapult this Nation into the rank of the best and the brightest of nations. We can be proud of this legacy regarding the extraordinary contribution of immigrants." govinfo.gov/content/pkg/CHRG…

"Some come to the United States because of political or religious persecution, and by their brave commitment to larger principles, they continue to renew our fierce love of freedom and justice. However, most immigrants came and continue to come primarily in search of economic opportunities, striving to make a better life for themselves and for their families. In short, we are a more prosperous, more free, more tolerant, and a better Nation because of the immigrants among us."

Imagine a foreign leader saying β€œFor too long, our country has relied on American farmers for the food we need.” What an absolute embarrassment πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ And she doesn’t want farmers to be allowed to buy inputs like fertilizer from our allies. No wonder costs are through the roof.
For too long, America has relied on foreign countries for the fertilizer our farmers need. Under @POTUS and @VP, that changes. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ This historic $1.3 BILLION investment will bring fertilizer manufacturing BACK to America, strengthen our supply chains, and put American farmers FIRST!
